Thread regarding IBM layoffs

I’d rather be a RAd than survive cuts

I just can’t believe C&CS could continue to work in case they decide to give people layoffs too???
I don't know how much your workload has increased, but mine is increasing continuously as more and more people are leaving.
In case of cuts I would rather be RAd because the extra amount of work would be unbearable. Surviving cuts at C&CS wouldn’t be that great at all.

Many quality people left or were RA'd from C&CS over the last couple years. The nonsense about turning customers/prospects to on-prem to cloud, or hybrid, was just an intellectual insult. Partners and customers were also bemused and I think to this day they still are.

After my RA I decided to retire at 57 because I could. I count my blessings.

But I'm amazed at the fabulous places some of my ex-colleagues have ended up. Good for them!

Take some FML if they are overloading you.
This way they can’t contact you no matter what the situation and will be forced to get another resource to help.

I will propose, anywhere Rob Thomas led, is a train wreck now.
Data and AI and Cloud Pak for Data. A platform for hybrid blah blah - basically all of the old middleware products on a platform, including DB2. Other than the biggest IBM clients, not interested in a platform that locks me into IBM, with a subscription license.
RT promoted to SVP of C&CS - another mess above the data and ai mess.
Now leading sales worldwide. Do we expect a different outcome?

C&CS is on a fast downhill trajectory. They're going to fire people to cut costs, then realize they don't have enough talent, and overpay to find people in the marketplace.

Unfortunately, the execs don’t see it that way… it is all about making it to the next few quarters… so if they have to dump employees now to make the numbers, they will. In their mine they can always hire again later… which makes you wonder about the severance and hiring costs!!
