Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Tapping out

Started work the other day after returning from vacation. And it hit me , I can’t do this anymore ! I am feeling the mental stress and seeing the toll it’s taking on me physically. I’m turning in my retirement papers Monday. People are dying, either a few years before or after leaving the Farm. All those years and only got see a fraction of their pensions and retirement . I don’t want that to happen to me. I’m getting out while I still have a chance to live a more healthy life and remove all this State Farm negativity from my mind and body. Trying to stay on for a few more bucks on your pension can cause stress that could prevent you from getting your pension at all. #itsnotworthit

The same thing happened to me in late February. Took all my vacation and retired recently and do not regret the decision to leave. I do have a pension, 401K investments, and income from rental properties. My life is happy and relatively stress free now. You will love retirement.

It is amazing how clearly tenure sees the writing on the wall. Executive thinks they are going to be able to hire and keep today's talent for 5-10 years to turn and burn them. Boy are they in for a surprise. Today's worker will never have the work ethic that those in operations once had. They consider themselves much better than their kids, claims sc-m, and minions. That's the fatal error! When that term was used, I will not say where I was at but I came off the chair with a finger aggressively in the person who said its nose with a dire warning never to say that again about my associates. Today, that language is common place and even worse than that in my opinion. It is no wonder why those that can retire are retiring because leadership with that behavior should not be tolerated as I consider it a hostile and threatening work environment. No man on the face of this earth is better than any other because of a title.

To the retiree, All the best to you and yours! You worked for it. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. Like someone else said: They gave you nothing. You worked for it.

You made it to get a pension and walk out. Do it with your chin high! You did it! Remember it will take you at least 30 days to detox. Once you do that, you're home FREE!

If I’m retiring and said I’m getting a pension, that means I’ve been with the company long enough to be vested and at an age to receive one. Obviously new hires don’t after 2021. Geesh.

OP must be in claims. The stress is definitely taking a toll on your long term longevity. Get out as soon as you can. The iceberg is out there, but the captain is too blind to see it.

What has happened to the pensions, did they change how much you receive recently?

No one ever laid on their deathbed wishing they had worked more. Just saying. Priorities.

There's a few things in life that are so true. Money will never buy happiness. They can have all their money because they are definitely a very angry and hateful bunch to the people who do the work. Money can never buy time. They keep trying to control that variable by controlling you and using your time without appreciating the value of it. Money can never buy your mental and physical health. Look at your executive and leadership. Multiple divorces, self medicating, etc. Most normal people don't want their life. They prefer happiness. I got out early and am so happy I did. I came to the point myself they cannot afford to buy my happiness no matter how much money they have and what kind of misery it takes to get it. I hope others come to that realization. Remember their motto is all about me!
