Stores in bad shape

Is there any store that is in a somewhat good shape?

I understand that the company is in trouble, but can't they set aside any money to fix up at least the key stores?

The store I work in is in a desperate state. I personally would never have entered such a store had I not been an employee here.

I hate to tell you but I have been with belk for many years. And unless it was a Charlotte store or very large volume store most of the time they didn’t spend any money on them. Even when the Belks still owned them, corporate rarely went to smaller stores and buyers and allocations and planners wouldn’t set foot in a store outside Charlotte. Most medium to small stores have been neglected for years so, you can’t blame all of that on new owners or management. I just had to clear that up.

Absolutely. My store has lighting issues that makes it dark and gloomy inside. Stained carpets. And the tiles are awful and scratched up. Feels like it doesn’t matter what we do visually - the store still looks rough because of the lack of updates.

It's all about perception in retail. Sycamore in their complete lack of caring have left our stores showing great neglect. This situation will not bring back the customers who have deep pockets (or credit). Our store in Oxford, MS looks amazing but don't look down! The carpet negates all our hard work. If my manager could get permission for me to pull up the carpets I would. It may take me 6 months to do it since I'm old but bare concrete would be infinitely better! I have to also point out this situation dates back to 2014 when I started with Belk before the buyout.
