Interesting communication from VP Yi, finally some humility with the claims work force. It seems senior claims leadership is finally responding to the unhappiness in the work force. I'm interested in how the TM meetings will do next week.

SF is all image. Look and listen to leadership. It is all sales without a product to sell. It is a service to sell with a known outcome which is preset to line their pockets not yours. Believe nothing you hear and all of what you see. Remember! They make it sound like they "gave" you everything. Reality is they give you nothing! You work for it. Hard sell.
And signs point to 30 mill next year. Was fun to see the lower execs sitting in front rows as if he was going to start throwing money at them like dog bones
They will ride a horse on the same track as long as they want. Then when that horse gets too costly to maintain, they will either move it to a cheaper track or euthanize it. LOC employees are horses. Their goal is to ride that horse for 5 years at its prime. Read their book. SF hasn't been that way in the past. It has changed. They even admit it. The management is even admitting it is a hard sell to keep quality employees because of cost. Plan!
Claims in total Flame out YI to blame. Wrong person wrong position
Yi cuts costs at the expense of the employee morale and customer service. Can’t totally blame him since he is doing most likely what he is told to do. Still, whenever he is in charge of anything, look out. Nothing matters more to him than cutting costs. Him being in charge of the Op Model is terrible since he’ll run other departments into the ground like he has done with claims. Behind closed doors, he blames claim results on “lazy” employees, so trust him at your own risk. Take advantage of the employee market by doing what is best for you. State Farm only needs you until they don’t.
Can someone summarize what was said?
As they refer to us as" claim sc-m, minions, and kids, they assume you need to be indoctrinated into their narrative and you have no comprehension of SF history. Their narrative and what they do are opposite. They will sell you out in a heartbeat and not think a thing about it. Many make good solid points here. Follow their decision making history. It will open your eyes and acts like Narcan to counteract the SF Kool Aid.
Plan your exit strategy before they plan it for you. It is better to take control of your destiny and depart on your own terms. Believe in yourself, you will land on your feet, and look back wondering why you haven't planned it sooner. The only certainty about SF is uncertainty, and instability; that is no way to live life.
@1daf To add to your comment, they also kept repeating over and over, 'It's our goal to retain as many talented employees as possible'
Make no mistake about it, when they implemented the Future State model from the Legacy model they told everyone we "value" your tenure and can't do it without you. The VPs/Exec looked everyone in the face and said this is not about job reductions and we "value" you. They kept saying that until the moment they announced more and more office closures and ohhhh your job is going away or you can reapply for a hub job! We are down almost 15K employees since then! Yes there is no way they can let the LOC folks go now but another year or two is a whole different story as the bots and 3rd party vendors take more and more. Don't buy the BS....it is all smoke and mirrors!!! We've seen this movie before!
@1yfu Kool Aid! Gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today.
@1zfe-actually just the opposite. They have never needed LOC employees more. They are more tenured by decades than hub employees, can handle more challenging work and from a productivity standpoint run circles around the hubs. Look for LOC retention bonuses in the near term.
15 months of no hiring. Big splash announcement that we are going to hire 1500...has now turned into we’re trying to hire 3750 before the end of the this year. Reassignment of large numbers of claim employees to backfill the Demands that are serviced by hub employees that are quitting faster than they can be replaced. This email was a Hail Mary pass to buy some time. Injury is on the brink of collapse. WFH, we are going to need you for a while...
Luv shady! More $$$! Go FA go!
Fuad A (ET) is involved in the whole charade more than folks know.
A shady system and allowing shady agendas drive his “leaders”
It’s bout $$ and data and or knowing those who don’t know enough or any different that implement it all.
Not bout u. Bigger picture to it all
Loc people you need to leave now. That memo was the worst thing you could possibly imagine. Yi will keep you until the new employees are hired and then terminate you will very little notice. I beg of you. Take care of yourself and leave. Don’t believe a word he says.
They sent YI out in the 2000s to all of the offices to tell the employees they no longer had a job. He was from the Pac Northwest and has no ties to anybody He's climbed his way up and the older people remember him and Don't trust him. None of the actual claims people believe anything they say. Surely they know that. Yi is nothing more than a hatchet man.
The claim's Ninja is a joke. Yes he checks a box for sure! Oldest trick in the book, basically like a dude getting caught cheating on his wife and swears to her he'll never ever never ever ever never do it again and truly loves her, she meant nothing, sends flowers........he will do it again and again.....as long as she sticks around, doesn't take the kids, and doesn't clean out his bank account and his 401K plan! F... off Yi and Tipsy...everyone and I mean everyone saw it coming.....we do this same dance every 2-3 years now, you can only yell fire some many times before people stop believing you! We know you are lying as soon as your lips move d-mba--!!!!!
When they stop trying to grab data and impress the U of I and college and 3rd party groupies and acting like big tech buddies it would help. And actually get the workforce management and leadership bureaucracy and surveillance tracking out (that nepotistic Farm folks all shared the $$ in putting in) a little respect for the workforce would occur.
It’s Abnormal for companies and so called leaders to behave like that to employees then take credit for meeting goals. It’s self serving
Hard to respect HR and their agendas and the nepotistic buddy system - Systematic and procedural deceit.
Same amount of humility/humanity as adding "we care about what you do" in front of a copy/pasted daily work direction email we also get.
Its easy to type that after a year and a half of removing your workers say in what they do. After making people move across country that now, apparently, didnt need to, uprooting their lives for a worse work enviroment in the HUBS only to see now that had we stayed everything would have been fine.
Its easy to write that, just like its easy to say our feedback matters, but look up the 1 or 2 star job reviews on glassdoor and indeed and see the SAME exact complaints about working here since maybe 2014. Nothing has changed other than token directives.
Its great they are hiring again, but the decision maker who said "fck it" back in 2020 and let our claims department become a backed up mess created an extremely toxic work environment in order to save a buck.
Its a step in the right direction, but ACTIONS speak, a line in an email doesnt.
The memo raises more questions than it answers. I didn't see any humility. He talks about all the hiring's in claims. Where are they? The are certainly not in the injury segment. Does he understand that employees are leaving at a high rate because of the unrealistic expectation. This is a pressure cooker environment and people are looking elsewhere. There is also no consideration for the amount of time it takes to train somebody for this job. 2-3 years before they become proficient enough, depending on who they hire. Plug a play is not working. They need to go back the drawing board and staff it correctly and start caring about the employees. This is not sustainable and it will get worse before it gets better.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened. In 2018, Yi said that he wasn't aware the demand pool I was working had been on consistent OT for over two years. He apologized at that time, but it appears that his apology was insincere to have allowed this situation to have turned into what it has become.
FYI ---- YI is sneaky. He will play you in a second only to hide behind a door to subvert you. Don't butter up to talk. Look for actions. As the old saying goes....Actions speak louder than words.
Now that it appears you have them on their heels like they have had you for awhile, it's time to give them back what they have given you. Get them up against the ropes and put the final touches in for the 10 count. Don't be soft! They weren't and did not consider your health and well being.
I couldn’t believe what I was reading. He finally acknowledged his total failure and unhappiness of the claims employees.
Also begging the LOC people not to leave?! I couldn’t help but bust out laughing.
Seems like the mighty State Farm gods realized they are not immune to the current workforce market.
