The cost effectiveness of not having an employee with 5 weeks vacation , prior rights or local arbitrary ? Not to mention a younger work force ? Being someone with 27 yrs I’d gladly step aside for someone else to work if we were allowed to collect . Yet I’m going to kick around another 10yrs for my RR retirement. If serious consideration was given between RRB & RR I’d be out in 3yrs . This is no benefit of my own I’ll just finish out what’s left of this career … It’s disheartening to me to see so many folks be furloughed . Plenty of “Old Heads “ would be gone in less time .

You guys talking about working to get your spouses portion tied up have no sense. OK so you work all the extra time and beat your body up then you die quick and then your wife gets all your money. I will say you are a great husband for doing that instead off trying to live life for yourself at some point..........what absolute nonsense you only live once do your time then frigging leave and stop holding everyone below you up from decent jobs.
There is a group of "Old Heads" that refuses to step aside even with 40+ years working. If they haven't made their money by now then when will they? They just want to clog up the rosters for younger folks and keep slaving for RR even as they spout how much they hate it. Then they finally leave when they get sick or hurt and end up dying a year later. Yeah, so much for "I hate the RR" then never collect much off all the money they put into system. What a JOKE!
Tuff luck., These parasites want you yo work untill you are dead. I put in like 24 years into social insecurity befor "joining the railroad".I then put in another 17 years. These parasites expect me to put in 30 with the n,s,They want me to walk around with a cane. So I did the obvious., I went on medical., Bottom line., They want you to die so they get to keep the money. Its sickening., When I reached medical ., "the nurse" told me that many people continue to work with loss of limbs.,chemo therapy.,broken backs ect...,While she sits in a comfortable office., O.K. Illl do just that
