Does a promotion come with a raise?

I am curious to know if a promotion from individual contributor to leadership role will come with a raise? There are mixed messages on this. Not sure if this is based on your group or not.

To those saying no raises or promotions this year that is true for most everyone. If you have a high ultimate potential however you could very well have received a promotion and raise. I know of several people who did. Good raises I might add. It is good to be a high ultimate potential employee that is for sure. Takes a VP or someone high up in the organization to become your sponsor but if you are lucky enough to be in that situation enjoy it.

A promotion during times like these can be a bad thing if it moves you into a new rank group. I've known people who were promoted and then lost their job because they were moved into a more competitive assessment group. Often you drop in ranking when you get a CL promotion.

A “promotion” with a flat CL often does not lead to a raise. It is possible that the bonus/incentive award structure could change with the job role.

You don't need to worry over that, OP.

I've gotten several raises and a few promotions.
So, no, a promotion does not come with a raise.

“Promotion” as in “job change” does not by itself change compensation.

A “Promotion” as in “CL increase” will give a pay raise.

Usually promotions are considered a change in CL. Sometimes depending on the job there way be an accompanying increase in CL.
