Heard they dangled the guarantee to all conductors until age 61 in return for leaving. That is, you could work another job and get guaranteed $52,000 a year until retirement.

NS (I Do not think!!!) would do that. They would just Fire them or pull them out for "Medical" Reasons. IMHO
They'd offer it to higher seniority guys first, less time left to work so less to pay over the long term. Forcing younger workforce i.e. current conductors to engine school and to become engineers
