Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Worth the move

Got offered a job in Binghamton even though I live in Buffalo. Don't mind the move and its a family trade. Gave me all the bs of how good it is and they don't lay off. Is it worth picking over csx or just the same song and dance?

I think the young bucks point was don’t go back. this layoff is different than the past like all you boomers had. Most of these people are not getting called back. And most of the ones that get that call aren’t coming back. The days of the second job waiting on the RR to call are over. This generation won’t do it. Plus the RR isn’t the best deal in town anymore.

Funny how this young buck thinks layoffs are only part of the “new rr”. He should have been around on the old rr when Everyone had a side job because layoffs came with out notice or reason! This new crowd always thinks that they are the first ones to ever have troubles! Welcome to the beginning of the OLD RR.

Well at least they lied to you first thing rather than waiting to do it later. There is no such thing as never lay off. Not on the new RR. As soon as the OR stumbles the first people to get cut will be hourly. It’s become a reflex. Nobody considers anything else. Family trade or not. I’d move on to ANYTHING other than a RR.
