Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

A lot of standing around in Schenectady 273 and 66

The VRIPS being talked about is an extreme unheard of number. The last time a big number like this was talked about was back in 89. A lot of people lost their jobs back then. Well if this VRIP number is right and say if 15-20 qualifying members take it that will leave about 80-100 more out the door. GE is doing the same exact thing to Schenectady as it has done to the Fort Edward plant. This campus will be fully closed in a couple of years.

All that work that couldn't possibly be done running 16/7s is probably all age wip and delinquent parts that should've shipped to hit commits 3 years ago lol if power is anything like aviation

"The only people talking about VRIP's are the hall and it's minions. This is all BS speculation until you hear it from HR. The hall must be trying to create a distraction....hmmmm, now why would they do that?!?!"

Having a guy who was voted on by the executive board in the first ever of its kind of illegal case, to save his job at GE, that became a part time worker in another business, in another building, so he could play on a cmte at the hall, has now gone full time with National, and no longer works hourly. Its not RM either, he also illegally works full time for National and isnt a GE employee or a member of local 301. But we that pay attention have learned, the bad protect the bad, and learn from each other!!
Just a wild guess but the best way to distract from more shady sh-t, is to spark another discussion!! We have folks that have become experts at it!!

Well because the Hall Knows A Lot of members will loose their jobs. So stirring the buzz about VRIPS but even if they did offer 60-65 VRIPS 10-20 only take it. Also that would leave 40 plus some out the door after job reductions and right sizing the plant. Start with White collar then will trickle down to hourly in 273 & 66.

66 is going to close and there will be many layoffs in 273. LC needs his bonus and the break up shows power is not making any cash. Barely breaking even so layoffs are coming in a big way.

Its so sad and laughable how incompetent so very many are. There is so much labor in building 66 right now, if everyone worked 16hr shifts, 7 days a week, it still wouldn't be done! They are adding almost a dozen right now and lots more of that after Jan 2022. The company will announce just before the end of the year, the MILLIONS of dollars they are about to poor into Schenectady, just in building 66. So as much as some wanna continue to run their mouths like they know what's going on, just know several of us know how full of sh-t you really are! There could be 5 or 100 vrips in Schenectady out of a nation wide offer, but dont think for a moment, that will have a negative impact on real work and continued orders for Building 66, Schenectady Cores and Castings.

I would not get hopes up for A VRIP offering under Culp.
I think VRIP's are a thing of the past.

LC has only done half of his $2 billion dollar cuts. He is waiting to see now that they split which of the 4 he will cut jobs at. What makes the least amount of profits. It looks very bad for power and the local union.

The entire electrical products industry is cutting jobs to increase profits during the global economic slowdown. Siemens, a major GE competitor, recently announced plans to reduce its worldwide labor force by 15,000 over the next year.
GE always fallows suit
