Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

Be careful

I know a lot of people are planning to leave but I've noticed some are so determined to get out as soon as possible that they're not paying that much attention to what they're leaving for. I know it seems right now that anything is better than RJ, but you might be surprised at how many companies are just as bad (I wouldn't go as far as to say worse.) Just be careful and make sure to properly vet the company you're considering. That's all I'm saying.

As soon as Paul, Bella and Vin joined RJ; it became a non-family working environment. So sad. I remember, when the market crashed in the 80's some of the departments were affected and work was slow. Instead of Bob and Tom James laying people off, they loan out the people to other departments until the market started to improve for all products. That is how employees became deducted to the firm.
The last few years I was at RJ; I noticed a big change. The $$$ (not people) was important. I was there for 33yrs when I was laid off; short of 2 yrs until I retired. I know that the working environments for all companies have changed but make sure you are somewhere that makes you happy to go to work. Good luck!

There are places out there that offer four weeks vacation as a standard practice

I speak to a couple former team mates still at RJ. Only reason they are there is they have some great benefits and are watching the clock. One has 4 weeks of vacation and another has 5. If they left they would have a hard time negotiating that type of time off. They no longer do anything extra. Their boss knows they won't work more than 40-45 hours so projects are very slow to complete since they spend so much type patching the running environments.

the pressure from management on IT projects getting delayed because we have no resources and dates are crazy. keep your head down all and keep looking for jobs outside, do not go out of your way.

I'm still at RJ, hunkered down, milking every minute I can. I don't put in any extra effort. I do exactly what I am told, no more, no less. My manager has no clue what is going on. I lost all respect for Paul after the 550 were let go and how they were let go. Things are slowly falling apart. The fact that RJ didn't try to bring anyone back says a great deal about this company and why it is so hard to retain or recruit.

I agree with this post. I would also suggest that you try to use all your sick time and build up your vacation as you lose your sick time but will be paid all your vacation. RJ is not a happy place at the moment especially for those working under Bella and Vin.
