Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Why am I worried about attrition?

Someone mentioned that we shouldn’t worry about attrition at all. I do not agree. I can list a hundred reasons how attrition affects my work........
Recently I found myself in a very unenviable situation because the two people who were supposed to get the job done are gone.
I can only imagine what what kind of situations people found themselves in because of too much attrition here?

Man! The English grammar on this site is horrible. Obviously not their native language. If it is their native language, I can see why they are on this board.

I think the problem is that you feel you should get things done. Once attrition hit but the raises did not I did a market research of my value and downgraded my efforts on the backlog so my pay was fair for the amount of work done. The team did not meet deadlines anymore and the technical debt was growing like he-l but why would I care about that? Hurting rankings? It's a scam anyways and also I left the company once the perfect option came to me.

I think I know who you're talking about... Or if not then at least there's an exactly analogous situation in a different BU. "Encouraged" him to retire as part of the voluntary program and he did it to save somebody else's job. It's a shame to lose good folks like that with competence and character.

Hold on tight, this ride is about to get much worse. Just when you think we have hit bottom and things can’t get any worse, you will be proven wrong.

The lucky ones to stay for bi-weekly "reminders (paycheck)" don't feel so lucky. The unlucky ones to have gone may feel lucky. “To be, or not to be, that is the question”

It does seem that EM do not care about attrition. Therefore it’s part of the plan.

They will only care when it hurts a business objective or makes a senior leader look bad. Employee morale or attrition is not a business objective. What are EM doing to stop the flow of people leaving? Nothing by the looks of things.

I have seen some semi-public data recently from one of the GBUs that shows the lack of continuity caused by the layoffs / PiPoffs is bitting them in the behind. The seasoned worker who used to release this data would clean it up for public consumption (because he had 30+ years of experience to detect issues), instead now they have a tech dumping raw data out for the world to see that obviously has issues if you look closely at it. Only a matter of time before there is an SEC sc--w up, IMHO.

The people who should be worried and are paid to worried couldn't care less and our actually happy about it. I do feel so sorry for the boots on the ground who are directly impacted by this but no sense worrying about something you can't do anything about.
