Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Pushing people way over their limits

I'm not complaining. It's more like criticism. It is not right for a company to push people over limits to such an extent. I mean, it's not unusual for retail, but it seems to me that Belk is not among the retail companies that squeeze people the least, but among those that squeeze people to the maximum?

Tell it Alfred Dunner!
And it's a shame Belk doesn't pay $11.52 to associates who've been there for years, that's why most of us at Snellville, Ga. are looking elsewhere for employment now.

Belk is DESPERATE for employees. They have job fairs and get just a few or even NO good applications. Why in the world would someone come and work at Belk for $11.52 and do stock, housekeeping, sales, credit, emails, recovery, BOPUS, Packing, unloading a truck, everything under the sun, when they can go to Target for $15 & up, work 9-4 at the register or stock, and go home. Target is much more flexible with schedules because they have twice as many employees in one store than Belk has. Also take note that Belk is pushing the "hiring" thing but advertising over the P.A. and having instore "job fairs" to create the illusion that associates are replaceable, but as soon as someone quits, the manager is begging them to stay trying to offer a fifty cent raise.

To: The person that wrote "These people make me laugh"
Fist of all, your manager isn't going to tell you another employee's salary. You and your manager figured out what was best for you? Or you settled for what was offered, to keep your job?
We are not negative, because we voice, and post our experiences, we can speak our truth.
Obviously your not an associate, just a troll.

Oh great. Another person that knows it all. In my store the associates have no say. If you are not happy and you say anything you get your hours cut.

These make me laugh, bc the people writing them don’t know what they are talking about. Truly. …Yes I work in a store, and instead of saying this type of stuff, I just Went to my manager and asked, and we figured out what was best for me. Stop being negative/in the dark and find a solution.

Rumor has it, new hires are getting $11.52 per hour, how disrespectful, and despicable to the loyal employees who've been there for years, who are making less.
Seriously Belk, you've sunk to an all time low, you have no class, or integrity.

I was told an employee had only received a raise of 14 cents out of four years. I knew then, I wouldn't be getting another 21 cents out of my 2 1/2 years.
And they're probably paying new hires $11.52 per hour, while those who've put in years, are paid less.
You sunk to an all time low Belk, along with your company.

When our RVP told us that “competitive pay” was $10 per hour, I got out. No way can belk hire quality employees at that low rate. Never will happen.

And Belk knows it can turn and burn employees to keep wages down.
