Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

unpaid overtime

Every day, for the last two months in particular, I work significant overtime. It's not paid but taken for granted. Needless to say, work/ life balance has become non-existent. I agree to it because I wouldn’t want to lose my job until I find a new one where I won’t have to work so much extra time for nothing.

How much overtime do you do on a daily basis?

I try not to be there more than 30 hrs/week. I actually I work about 10 hrs, and the rest I spend on here and LinkedIn promoting myself. It’s such a great place to work.

If you are eligible for overtime then you shouldn't work a minute of it unpaid. Period.
If you're salaried, then you're screwed. Find a new gig if that is your management's style.
I'm salaried but my manager is very adamant we don't work more than 40/week unless it's something dire. And then he tries to make sure we flex that time elsewhere later ;)
Don't work for a tyrant an hour more than is necessary. Find something new.
