Heard it here first: callbacks to begin at Juniata in November. Can't get the numbers they need and the fleet is shot.

Not happening. requests were just made for 4 electricians specifically for a project NS isn’t even paying for (making money). The denial was swift. They sell the callback rumor to keep people edging along doing just enough to get some work done.
Wow, typical management "Boss" I said nothing towards you, just the company heads who could give two sh--s about the employees, including you my friend. I'm not wishing I was still there as per my post. After many years there I still have many friends working for a company that cares less about them than they do a piece of equipment. Just got on here to let them know there is light on the other end of the tunnel too, and not to feel stuck working for the worst managed company in the U.S. You're response to my first post proves my point.
For such a happy railroader you can't seem to get NS off your mind. Coming back to a site to bi--h about them only shows you wish you were still there. Callbacks will happen, it's up to each person and the situation they find themselves in whether thay take that call or not. Just putting the word out there to all those affected, take it or leave it.
Maybe the company learned a lesson boss, but so have the employees. People don't want to come back to the railroad. People got laid off and found out its an employees market out there. Many jobs available with more take home pay than JLS. 1st shift with weekends off, cleaner working conditions, and your not constantly worried about losing your income. Many of us thought the RR was the best job in the area, now we know better. People also know if they leave a job to come back to JLS the first time the O.R. start creeping up again, and it will, they'll be kicked to the curb. You will not be given a second chance to fk my family over. Its sad for the people still working there, holding on to the job they think is a golden egg, when its really just a bag of st.
Case and point on the lesson learned comment. CN since failing on the merger with KCS is now planning massive stock buy backs and (drum roll please)! Cutting 400 to 1000 hourly employees. You would think there would be at least one of these college educated “managers” in one of these companies that would try something other than cutting their way to prosperity. It’s a quick fix at best, and detrimental long term.
You're not a good liar "Boss." All mechanical will be performed by non NS employees in the very near future! Which means if you are a so called Boss....You're out too!
Just trying to tell every mechanical employee whether laid off or working, there is light at the end of this tunnel. As I stated previously take it as you will. Good Luck to all
“A lesson has been learned” Ha! My rear end. They will chuck hourly employees as soon as the next business model fad comes along.
This work is going to be outsourced within a year or two.
Think what you want, but callbacks are coming sooner than later. The operating ratio is headed in the right direction and the railroad needs the fleet repaired. Labor shortages are everywhere including NS. Previous callbacks at other shops have not went well and a lesson has been learned. Keeping this generation of workers out for more than 6 months guarantees the company will struggle to get them to come back. This isn't the old days where people would come running back years later. I would put my name on here but I am honestly afraid of retribution from NS management.
You're full of shjt Flash!
Its probably different in transportation where there are no good jobs, but in mechanical when the carrier calls you back, you drop everything and run back to the best job in the country!
Fact checked false by independent fact checkers
Juniata suxs. They can't fix anything. Couldn't tell you how many times they bring Loco's to SCX to get it right!
Yep! Washington is not going to let a pile of money sit around. Off limits or not. Never going to happen.
im happy I joined the railroad. Im on easy street. For you guys still working.......Please continue to pay into the tiered system.... Im collecting decent money., but when its time for you to collect in 20 or 30 years, you may be in tears because there aint gonna be any money left.
I'll go back, decent pay and bennies and I won't put more than 20 hours of work into a 40 hour work week. I was someone who kept busy and tried to be a good employee, but if I go back the only thing they are going to get out of me is the bare minimum.
They called like 5 electricians back at my location and all they could get to come back out of 30+ were two laborers that were furloughed electricians and then they called boilermakers and pipe fitters to come back as electricians. All the guys with sense said no way. So funny!!!
Do you really think any sane people would come back to this sh*t show ?
Watch the video and try not to be jealous
Last thing that shop needs is more boilermakers. #plowpointboyz
