8% of the Imperial Oil workforce are getting there PDS now as NSI. These people will be let go right before Christmas. This is in alignment with ExxonMobil CEO’s promise to his shareholders to reduce workforce by 14K by the end of 2022.

They definitely need to get rid of the useless controllers group - especially the fat cats CL28+. Work can easily be done by the BSC at a third of the cost.
This may be true of the business functions but there will be no layoffs in the overstaffed Controller's organization. To the contrary, recruitment activity may commence imminently. Incompetence begets Incompetance and Controller's is a prime example of an overpaid underperforming lot. Time to port out these over glorified roles to lower cost locations.
Yes, we definitely knew this was coming but it still sucks. I have never seen a corporation cannibalize its own culture so efficiently with mandated double-think. What a nightmare.
Yeah because labelling otherwise great engineers with a proven history as poor performers and placing them on a PIP as part of a shady HR scheme is a great way to motivate the organization. Gotcha!!
Even those not put on the PIP will look at the PIP and totally reconsider their relationship with this gaslighting toxic company.
It is not 8% that will be leave because of NSI. NSI is 8% but about 4% try the PIP so net leaving due to expanded NSI is expected to be 5%. Attrition is up about 2% vs normal but the issue there is regretted attrition. Adding last year to this year reductions the math would suggest expanded 8% NSI method to reduce headcount will not be required beyond this year. We hope.
8% reduction through NSI has been known for at least a year. No surprises there. Everyone should already have a back up plan since it was first made public.
I am forward being let go. Get some $$ on the way out and leave this toxic work environment. You cannot put a price tag on the impacts this place has on your physical and mental health.
No matter what, managers will continue to protect themselves and PIP the real contributors.
This place is being run by amateurs.

To be fair, IOL is probably gonna exceed those headcount reductions targets through attrition, as pretty much anyone younger doesn't see any future in this sinking ship and is running for the exits. The 8% NSI bucket will help management exceed the headcount reduction targets even further to earn their bonuses for a job well done.
OH! And when you ask your Supervisor or Manager, please don’t forget to mention the number, “8%”.
