Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Talent is wasted here. That's for sure.

A close colleague who left got a great job.
The other colleague is paid significantly more.
Another colleague achieved more in the new company in 3 months than he achieved here in 3 years.
All these people were unnoticed and very undervalued here.
The only explanation I have for why people only reach their potential when they leave here is that managers here are holding back the most talented and not getting the best out of them?

Talent is definitely wasted as most of system are outdated and if you propose something advanced they will reject immediately as they fear it will improve your skills and create demand for you in market. Its one way to retain you making skills outdated

@ 3aox there is a PIP for managers if they disagree. But there needs to be a PIP for managers who consistently get negative rating from their team. They should be taken out rather than give them more training

@2jto+1cLGUFG6 there is PIP for managers who disagree and defend their people from module managers.

When you consider, GF is bloated with too many managers, they don't have a job except going to meetings and relaying messages.

These place have had the worst bunch of managers that I have ever seen. They are afraid to speak the truth and are worried about their jobs and the only reason they took the job is because they think they are untouchable which is true because no matter what you write in the quarterly survey nothing ever happens to the managers. There is no PIP for them as well.

No, the problem is inexperienced persons promoted to management without any training or support to help them perform as a "manager".

PS: Do not be the last to leave

Absolutely! Managers here are afraid. The culture doesn't value talent, but diversity and connections.
