Found out today Lowes has fired all the plant vendors and will implement the MST green team. Good luck to everyone, ha ha, I can only imagine what the garden centers will look like come spring!

I just had an interview for Green team merchandising lead at my local Lowe's. I was very disappointed at the starting wage for one, which was told to me that it couldn't be negotiated. So I overlooked that for a second, but said well this is going to be a trial and error thing than right? (With me getting all the blame and ridicule I'm sure). The MSM who interviewed me said he'd call the next day ( as I was having second thoughts after I got home also because of the pay vs responsibility)So a week later I got a call back n he said he was ready to hire me, but home office has decided to wait in it?? Which I'm thinking ok well good luck then cuz now the place is really gonna look like sh-t. I worked for Plant Essentials years ago at the same store and loved it. We WERE NOT allowed to wster but the GC always had kids doing it at least 2 times a day. Last summer I worked for a private grower that supplies Walmarts in PA with their annuals and I was allowed to water there, which was nice. Walmart, though, owned all the plants and didn't have a problem when I pulled the bloomed, and less lively or uneventful ones to be cvp'd. And even though I worked for the grower, we maintained and merchandised all incoming shipments no matter who they were from, . Of course plant essentials took care of all the vendors, except for Bonnie's. I'd take care of our product first of course, They also had the loader kids back n forth taking turns helping out there, when not loading cars etc. I guess my point is last year I was horrified walking into Lowe's garden center to the point I thought of trying to contract the store personally but I knew would prob never fly because of corporate. So pi-s on it. I won't be able to even go in there, right now they have so many houseplants they are on the floor n dead are mixed in and no watering so whatever. Oh n btw, the personal grower I worked for at Walmart paid me .40 less than what they wanted to start me at for the lead.
I work for plant partners I make 17.50 loved my job. We are transforming into Home Depotthe green team is not going to pay and it’ll be more work. They lost their contract due to they did not want to go pay by scan. So we got shafted. We end our time Feb 4 I am currently still employees with my reg hours. I’m going to miss Loews but things change jobs change.
Plant partners lost the contract to do Lowes garden centers effective jan 1 2023. I just received the email.
Since Lowes has a vested interest in the product, hopefully the Garden Centers will improve.
Face it; Plant Partners only set product. They didn’t water, pull the ugly or markdown. They were a vendor only with nothing vested.
If you look at HD and their live goods - major difference. Yes its vendor maintained, however, it’s owned by the vendor merchandising it.
So if Lowes Mngmt team can hire up, train them and not pull them from the GC. They might have a chance.
Does anyone know if all stores are going to MST? I know about Garden Vision is out but not hearing anything about Plant partners. Seem plant partners is the only service group left.
Lowes is going forward with the MST green team and will destroy their garden centers. MST does cr-p work inside in the a.c. imagine outside in the heat with no plant knowledge.
Gardenvision did lose the Lowe's contract for 2022.
I, as a Gardenvision employee, have already been approached by Lowe's management to come over to the MST "Green Team" when they transition over.
More money, paid vacation, and health care insurance.
It's a real no-brainer.
GV Vendor told us they had a conference call yesterday and were told Dec. 31st is the last day. Lowes is not renewing any GV contracts.
I have been hearing this for 2 years. So far the only thing I could find is that Garden Vision out of Florida didn't have their contract renewed. It does look like other companies are open to bidding that area...possibly for pay per scan. Guess we shall see. Good luck everyone!
Half our plants died this tear when they cut hours for watering
Whaaat? I didn't hear anything about that.
