It seems to me that very few still believe that loyalty matters. Everyone else has already realized that being loyal only goes to the detriment of the one who is loyal. Judging by the experiences of some of the best employees who stayed here even though they could have gotten a better offer elsewhere, Pembina no longer cares at all who was most loyal or dedicated to their work and this company.

You eventually realize that you are only there because the company needs your service, not that they really care about you and they are competitive because they have to be to attract people. You are an expense on a profit and loss statement. Remember - you have the career; the company has a job. And at the end of the day, when you finally leave, you realize that you traded your life for money. Of course you need the money, but working extra hours for nothing or that perhaps hoping that someone notices (or cares about your home life) may get you an 'attaboy' but 10 attaboys are negated by one "aw sh-t". You need to do what is required to keep your job, have job satisfaction but your family is most important so don't ignore them thinking this effort at work is 'for our future'. That could end with the stroke of a CEO's pen wanting to cut costs and have nothing to do with your extra effort.
Someone here posted about their layoff experience and process. Apparently there was a clause in the severance agreement about posting anything negative about the company or information about the severance online however someone did. Paraphrasing:
~ Severance amount was the bare minimum and not a cent more. They nickel and dimed the long term employees who were let go. HR told people who questioned their severance to p1ss off and go go talk to a lawyer. HR gaslighting to make it appear like ex-staff should be happy to be getting anything. Ignored people when faced with too many questions
~~ Pembina gave ex-staff one month of benefit coverage and were told to use everything up while the world was shutdown. No extended employee assistance program coverage either. The person who posted said their HR rep treated the situation as if Pembina was doing them a favor
~~~ Pembina revised the severance payout schedule two days after sending it out. People who wanted the severance funds directed to an RRSP had to now obtain a signed letter from their bank (in official bank letterhead) during Covid while people were working from home
~~~~ Insult for injury, it took Pembina over a month to pay the severance out
~~~~~ Some personal items left in the office were never returned to staff
Pembina is the absolute lowest of the low. There is no debating that.
Certain staff probably think loyalty still matters but we are all just numbered human capital to the company. I still work with a several of people who drink the kool-aid, and are still devout and unwaveringly loyal to Pembina.. these are the same people who believe they are untouchable and somehow the business wouldn't be able to function without their contributions. I suspect this is due to the idea of Pembina being "one big family" constantly drilled into peoples' heads for so long. Stockholm syndrome lol. Also, after hearing about how former staff members were treated during layoffs last year, and the appalling severance packages they received.. the loyalty well from me officially dried up. I don't doubt that there will be additional layoffs before year end.. after all, Mick, et.al, need to show some cost savings to get their fat bonuses. They will also brag about those cost savings in front of staff at townhalls.
Mitch gets a $350 million from InterPipeline deal that didn't get taken up by InterPipeline and he turns around and guts those people who work so hard for Pembina over the years -- stay away from Pembina folks -- go find a job somewhere else.
