Have been gone almost 6 months, thought I’d check in here to see the “pulse” of the organization…..know it’s a limited audience, group, etc.
That being said - grass is greener on the other side - if you’re thinking of making the jump, well then do it!

All it takes is a first step. Brush up that resume, reach out to your network, browse LinkedIn jobs….it’s not a ton of effort.
Great jobs at great companies are out there. I made it out and you can too!!

Tried to make things work and to “fit in” the super toxic culture and I finally left. The company was not a good fit for me and I have no desire to work in corporate America again. I’m in a fantastic new job and actually had to adjust to working with kind, transparent people again. No more Sunday night scaries. If you are thinking about leaving, DO IT ASAP! Enjoy life again. Those left will be the brown noser, a*s kissers who won’t see the end coming.
All oil and gas companies - very similar cultures in this industry.
There are definitely better cultures out there!
Getty Oil, Amoco, Halliburton, Union Texas Petroleum, Arco, BP and EM. During my 40 year career these are the companies I worked for as an employee. The last 15 years with EM then retirement.
I can tell you that based on experience, the grass is not greener just a different shade of p!ss yellow. I managed to survive each company and then move on when I got a better offer. There will be issues with any company; it’s just that the issues might be different.

100% agree- nothing better than a non toxic work environment where everyone is worried about losing their jobs and just completely unmotivated.

I believe XOM will have a hard time finding people willing to commute to campus.
I’m about to leave and frankly kind of scared. I’ve only worked at EM since out of college and I’m completely switching industries. Posts like these make me feel better about my decision though.
Experienced hire brought in to drive digital - lots of previous experience as a management consultant doing large scale transformation work.
New role is digital as well - on a global scale - fully remote position too!
