Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

Raymond James Layoffs over a year ago

Folks...it makes me sad to read some of the comments here after a year of the big layoffs. I worked in operations for over 20 years and survived 2 or 3 layoff events and realized I cannot count on this company for financial security. It is probably that way at every big company. I quit near the end of 2018 due to a new boss, who hadn't been at RJ very long, that was just awful and frankly d-mb. The only awful boss I had at RJ. I had planned to work for another 4 years. That awful boss got the boot during those layoffs. I haven't worked since and am financially fine even though my salary was not all that great. Those who are bitter should look in the mirror and ask themselves why did I trust RJ to take care of me. Corporate America is unforgiving and most upper managers just look out for themselves. Those who are bitter should take care of themselves mentally and financially, even if it mean taking a job below your skill level.

Bosses can make or break a job. I had a great boss at RJ for many years and then he retired which meant a new boss and this one was mediocre. I worked hard at RJ for nearly 15 years in IT but that meant nothing. I was older and I suspect that had something to do with me being chosen for being let go. My family and I are doing fine no thanks to RJ. Like the other poster I hope something happens to bring Paul to his knees. He didn't need to do this with RJ having so much cash on hand.

I also had one of the worst bosses ever at RJ which is why I suspect I was let go even though my work was excellent (as told by rewards and emails from many peers and other managers). For some reason my manager felt afraid of me, perhaps since he knew so little of our environment. Anyways when I was let go I was able to not only get a huge severance, nearly a year of vacation, Cobra, profit sharing, bonus and stock. I was already 65 so I decided to bite the bullet and retire. Once I was done with unemployment I started Social Security. Although I hated what happened it turned into a blessing for me. I wish no ill will on any "worker" but hope Paul at some point faces some consequences.
