XOM Recruiting and Recruiters Speil

After dumping off a lot of our colleagues of the payroll via disguised PIPs and Layoff, it seems we are recruiting back again, mainly overseas. Curious to hear what our recruiting teams and recruiters are selling to college and experienced hires. Anyone know what we are selling to recruit new souls to fabricate other PIPs and meet other mgmt. agendas?

When they hired me 10 years ago, they sold me a long career and stability. With new ranking process it is merely a 1 year contract now for all (minus those love by mgmt.) so wonder what are we selling to get people to accept our mediocre jobs in declining industry.

EM should not interview at any school that divests of its holdings in oil industry.

I heard that only a few chosen schools will be recruited.

Which schools are they?

Recruiting is returning next year because every less than 5 year employee knows there is no future or hope here. We are so toxic no one wants to work here!

@4qdu+1cFUMFJh if anyone at XOM says one more time that we care about our people and that they are our asset I will slap that person hard. Enough of this drama and mockery.

@4pki+1cFUMFJh this is disgusting if true. We laid off people in the name of cost reductions and efficiency and now we are hiring in hundreds? Wow!

Can confirm that US based hiring is back. Target is approx 275 spread across the various companies. Chemicals by far is hiring the most. GP is only hiring a handful. Gotta add numbers so that we can keep the pip gods satisfied.

Are we even hiring in Houston? The same job postings for Spring keeps showing up on LinkedIn for a last few months. Are we just saying the world that we are hiring now when we aren't? Otherwise, why would same job postings would float for a few months now. Or are people not taking our bait and hence the positions are open for a while?

What about our other GBCs, Bangkok, KLTC, Budapest, Curitiba, and Buenos Aires. With exception of some from KLTC crew, we hardly hear of and from anyone at these other GBCs, especially Budapest and Curitiba/BA. Is it because these other GBCs have it better than the rest or are people their are more resilient and secure than people at other GBCs.

@2dze+1cFUMFJh The “raises” were not across the board

In India, getting hired as an Employee is seen as much more secure than being hired Contract. Many accepted lower pay because of the security of being a direct employee. When 8% PIP announced, these people realized “Employee” title equaled a 1 year contract, just not getting Contract higher day rate.

Many have jumped to other companies working Contract at higher day rates. Seems that Working contract at another company has same perceived risk as working Direct at EM.

EM has given across the board raises trying to stop the exodus.

I won't mention the TAMU cheerleaders representing EM at my recent college recruitment soiree.
It was probably the last at my University by the way,
as the Petro Engineering school is shutting down next year.

I did take the bait, however.
Chevron didn't even have shrimps at their table.

I’m guessing BTC recruits are “promised” lots of international travel and potential expat assignments.

@1cnq+1cFUMFJh Wishful thinking! The company doesn't care about the feedback and you can ask HR or the HR head TG as to how many exit interviews they sent to employees leaving and where is that feedback and what are they doing with it. You wont get a response back. Why? Because either they are not sending out exit surveys or their questionnaires are full of self serving questions and it is the former. The company wants the attrition of worker bees at any cost while protecting the mgmt. and their pets. It is more becoming like Petsmart than XOM. So there it is you have heard from an HR worker bee who is equally disappointed in the company and its leaders and awaiting opportunity to jump the ship.

Hiring helps all of us. The company has to maintain benefits and competitive salaries in order to successfully hire. It also has to win back enough employees to actually take someone through a recruiting process.

And even at the BTCs, that quiting/hiring feedback loop will probably do more to change things than complaining from stable employees.

It's all about $$$. Common employees are tools not "assets" as the management makes you to believe.

They are also recruiting at a few US schools. Nothing says #winning like firing junior employees and then rehiring fresh new hires that don’t know anything. Must be a PR tactic to maintain good school relations.

@ngb+1cFUMFJh As per one LI post, at BTC they are selling cutting edge technology. Not sure how any are falling for it. Anyone on ground can share what exactly is being sold by XOM and bought by candidates?
