Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

What does CareAR do?

I know Xerox announced a new service/software platform called CareAr. But for the life of me, I can't figure out what it actually does. I read about it and even watched the video. Can someone please explain (in simple English) what it does?

The few times I have used it, it has drained my battery and overheated my phone. One time the phone got so hot and drained, I had to power it off for half an hour so it could cool down enough to allow me to start charging it again.

AR stands for Augmented Reality. Care AR is a PC or smart phone based app that allows one person to video chat with another person in real time. Xerox's theory is that this app will allow an "engineer" to video chat with a technician on site and help him fix a machine. Unfortunately, Xerox fired most of their good engineers a few years ago so now when a technician calls for help they get a phone rep in a foreign country who is reading from a script and knows less about the product than the technician on site. Care AR has more features than your basic facetime or zoom app but it's all useless when the person you call for help has never worked on a machine.

Next-up, Xerox will require customer to buy a very expensive, 3D printer that rarely works so that when a customer calls on CareAR, the customer will be required to use said printer (when it works) to make their own replacement parts and install it themselves via Facetime. That will provide another revenue stream for Xerox and allow Xerox to completely eliminate service teams and part inventories.

And Xerox’s instructions when the 3D printer does not work will be to use your 3D printer to print replacement parts for your non-functioning 3D printer. Just like IT in the days of old, ‘the internet is down, do please go to the internet for instructions.’

Am I joking?

CareAR is why all of the customer service people are quitting. It is an app they must ask customers to download on their personal cell phone so that customer service can "be there with them" to help them fix their printer. It uses the customers forward facing camera only, and augmented reality can be used to help locate areas of parts, paper jams, etc.

It is mandated that on every call it be offered except for supply calls. And during every call a survey must be done on why or why not the customer accepted to use it.

Good luck with CareAR. Just another app people want, to make them feel like they are high tech. In reality they just want you to fix it. To a customers viewpoint, a box is a box is a box. You will have a fun time changing that perception. Have Fun.

It’s an augmented reality app that shows what your machine would be like if you could actually get toner and parts for it.

So, tell me, how will CareAR deliver parts remotely? Half the reason for onsite visits, yes? Perhaps multiple return visits because the tech isn't allowed to carry inventory they need or else the part is on backorder?

CareAR increases the efficiency of employees by allowing them to receive help remotely without sending another vehicle, Waicberg said.

The main thing CareAR does is fool the company shareholders into thinking JV and the Exec team are actually making progress.

I mean seriously, just look at the ridiculous name. "CareAR"......really?

By putting under the same roof a bunch of companies you can fire a whole bunch of people too. Common HR/Marketing/etc. means you just give 1 guy the other workload of the other two that got fired and see how long before it breaks. Meanwhile you fake the bottom like through synergistic alignment or some other bu$$sh1t term!

It’s an app that allows a tech to reach out for support and show someone else what’s happening via video. Almost like FaceTime. 😂😂😂
