There will be ZERO layoffs at GE Schenectady in 2021 or 2022… lots of work and morale is high. Anything else you hear is just fake news generated by spoiled, disgruntled employees. Salary staff just got a significant appreciation bonus sent out over the weekend, and union folks have a major wage hike coming. Things are great in buildings 273 and 66 and the Electric City is poised for a second Renaissance!
Don’t believe all the lies and rumors posted on this site. GE Power in Schenectady has work coming out it’s ears and relationships between salary and union folks are the best they have ever been.
Quality is up. Earnings are up. Salary bonuses were great this year. Medical insurance coverage is nearly what it was in the 90’s but at a slightly higher cost.
All people know how to do here is complain and spread rumors. Don’t believe all the negativity that people write here! GE is still one of the top three best manufacturing companies to work for in the world. Come join the team in Schenectady for a bright and rewarding future!

Three salaried engineers got their walking papers today including me. Depends where you work at Schenectady.

An appreciation bonus doesn’t equate to continued employment, probably the opposite. The company is just softening you up for upcoming pink slips. And as far as the major wage hike, that only goes to employees still on payroll, and that number will be significantly decreased by the time that gets implemented.
