Anyone else having trouble hiring when most retailers are paying more and/or are giving sign on bonuses?

I live in Colorado and applied for a position around April 2021.
I used to work as a DSK and left in February 2020. I had a 3 hour interview, chatting with the SM and Ops manager. Offered the job and the SM called me about 20 minutes later saying they were going to rescind the offer.
No idea why. I gave my proper notice, never had any attendance issues, or write ups. Whatever. BBBY can go bankrupt.
