We all know that safety and people are the first and most important part of SPIRIT values. With the highly infectious and contagious and deadly delta variant being spread like wild fire now, does that mean that ConocoPhillips will send all employees home again in the interest of their health, well-being and safety? Or is the company going to once again prove that it is all talk and no action when it comes to health, safety and its workforce? Place your bets now friends!

This is nuts. I should be able to spread Covid to as many people as I want and to help evolve new variants that might be even more deadly. It’s my God-given right of freedom. Masks and vaccines are for losers. cough cough that’s probably nothing, just allergies.
Dora raised the Harris County COVID threat level to red or "severe" today.
Did I hear they are masking everyone up and sorting unvaccinated and vaccinated people in the workplace? really going to make people wear a visible marker? I had an indirect source but if true- this is nuts
Can't wait to get my visual identifier! Think we will pin giant yellow V's to our chests? Perhaps we can get our visual vaccine identifier to also show our disenfranchised status as well?
Just another way to reduce headcount.
Spirit. Report water or cord on floor, get par on back. Report real threat to health and safety, shown the door.
Look for the Midterm variant next year, courtesy of the current administration.
By definition, a variant is not more dangerous than the original molecule. If it were, the label would be strain.. People are not dying in the streets, just as it has been for this charade the previous 18 months. If you are afraid, stay at home
Jeezus this place has been a sideshow since the beginning. No wonder they have to buy their own stocks back. No sane investor would get anywhere near us.
Ah, we've got a corporate historian monitoring this site. Although that tragic event did result in a different set of executives to run old Conoco, you can't know the current situation would be better if that event didn't occur.
in 1991, Conoco was a wholly-own subsidiary of a chemical company, a quarter of which was owned by a Canadian li---r company. At least now this company is able to make it's own (highly questionable) decisions without having to explain them to laypeople holding the check book.
In September of ‘91, a Conoco corporate jet carrying 12 people including 4 senior executives crashed in Borneo forever changing the future of the company. The new leadership that replaced them was responsible for the events that led to our spin-off from DuPont and acquisition by Phillips. Fortunes were made and lost. There were winners and losers as in every crisis. COVID is another crisis that is shaping the company. Some people are really adept at navigating to their advantage.
The company cannot establish a decent level of trust. I’m sure not seeing people at their desks is ki----g many of the bosses. Appearance is everything.
I’m confused. What terrible thing happened in September 1991? I mean besides half of ConocoPhillips’ managers being born …
We’re giving up freedoms because selfish jackoffs won’t take basic safety precautions in the name of “individual freedom”.
Back to the topic at hand though. Leadership at COP will never acknowledge changing trends in the marketplace like remote work as a permanent option. Good talent will continue to flee. Look what’s still left…
Some aspects of the Spirit values are more than others. That said, stop the hysteria about every new variant. Live life and don't fall for the games coming from ALL sides as a lot of money and power are interwoven with every decision being made. How much freedom do you want to give up?
Some people are hoping for a Black Swan event to boost their careers. If not for the tragic event in September 1991, none of us would be working for this company and the leaders we now know would all be different. Interesting to contemplate how certain events work to the favor of some. Never let a good crisis go to waste.
Leadership honestly doesn’t care if you live or take a dirt nap. Only that they might have to pay your annoying family should a lawsuit be successful.

Yep. SPIRIT values are a complete crock of schitt.
nxq nailed it. SPIRIT values are just execs flapping their gums
Just need someone on the 21st floor to get sick and then they’ll change their tune. As long as it’s peasants in the commons they truly do not care.
You still believe that COP cares about SPIRIT values?! You need to get a short course in how many people were fired or laid off after reporting a SPIRIT "value" issue, thinking they were doing the 'right' thing. SPIRIT=COP Bu-----t
It will probably take a number of E&P companies to resume WFH before ConocoPhillips does the same, i.e. peer pressure. Management prefers to be the first wagon on the second wagon train west.
Although there's an increase in case counts, the hospitalization counts, and most importantly, death counts are not following suit... yet.
Stay tuned kids.
