Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Is Steve Coll working on his next book "Private Empire: ExxonMobil and American Power - The Next Decade"?

I wonder if Steve Coll is using TheLayoff.com posts for his next book in the ExxonMobil series?

Maybe his book will be titled, "Private Empire: ExxonMobil - The Empire Strikes Back" or with the rapid growth of social media maybe the book title should be, "Public Empire: ExxonMobil and the Decline of American Power" especially after reading all of the ExxonMobil commentary on TheLayoff.com

Private Empire: ExxonMobil and American Power

SUMMARY
In this, the first hard-hitting examination of ExxonMobil—the largest and most powerful private corporation in the United States—Steve Coll reveals the true extent of its power. Private Empire pulls back the curtain, tracking the corporation’s recent history and its central role on the world stage, beginning with the Exxon Valdez accident in 1989 and leading to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.

The action spans the globe—featuring kidnapping cases, civil wars, and high-stakes struggles at the Kremlin—and the narrative is driven by larger-than-life characters, including corporate legend Lee “Iron A-s” Raymond, ExxonMobil’s chief executive until 2005, and current chairman and chief executive Rex Tillerson, President-elect Donald Trump's nomination for Secretary of State. A penetrating, news-breaking study, Private Empire is a defining portrait of Big Oil in American politics and foreign policy.

Steve Coll is an American journalist, academic and executive. He is currently the dean of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where he is also the Henry R. Luce Professor of Journalism. A staff writer for The New Yorker, he served as the president and CEO of the New America think tank from 2007 to 2012.

Steve Coll spent quite abit of time personally interviewing Lee Raymond after he retired. The book is a classic purchased and read by many of us that are still gainfully employed by XOM.

And yes, Steve Coll does know that Deepwater Horizon was another company but XOM was impacted by the event and that is why it is included in the book.

Actually the book is very good. He interviewed a number of employees and managers for his story. I found it be fairly accurate and a balanced look at the company.

"corporation’s recent history and its central role on the world stage, beginning with the Exxon Valdez accident in 1989 and leading to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill" ?

sorry but his book must be trash if he doesn't know Deepwater Horizon was another company

I don’t know of anyone who referred to Lee Raymond as “Iron A-s” (except maybe for himself) ! Also, if the story is going to start with the Valdez incident, then it has to start with Larry Rawl - a CEO who was a greater PR disaster than the Valdez itself.
