Despite beating on Q2 numbers, share price still looking stagnant. Investors dont seem to have confidence in its outlook

Tough to predict what the market will do on the day of earnings even when the report is very good. Any bit of bad news can sour what should have been a good day for the stock. 3M loves to cater to Wall Street’s whims, as do most publicly traded companies. No doubt it’s one of the reasons for the massive layoffs over the last 3 years. All those cuts are making 3M a less desirable place to work and cutting good people has hurt the company.
