Who else here works in a sweatshop? They only seem to run the A/C for customers so it’s sweltering before the store opens. There don’t seem to be many air ducts in receiving so it’s always hot back there. And at least here in Florida, they don’t do anything to actually control the humidity, they just lower the temp 3 degrees. Try working in 78 degrees in drenched clothing. It’s disgusting.

I just hit the overuse button fir hvac and lights. You can’t pukka cds in the dark
It feel like they run the heat the entire time the store is closed. By the time the store starts to feel cool, we close. It's especially awful in receiving all day since there isn't any A/C back there. Basically just sweat buckets all day. Definitely looking like cr-p when I go out to the floor and have sweat dripping down my face.
Thank you for acknowledging you are a whiner. The first step in your recovery is admitting it. Okay..lets think of the workers in
Minnesota, The Dakota's, Chicago, etc where there is heat and humidity in the summer AND it is below zero in the winter. Try working in receiving there.
I have worked in other retail places and it’s not just bed bath and beyond that doesn’t turn the ac on until after the store is open.
I’m so sorry, with 70% humidity. That makes it feel like 85-90. And that’s with the A/C running at 72. We are soaking wet and dealing with swamp cr---h. Is that enough clarification for you?
78 degrees is a piece of cake. What a whiner. Is it uncomfortable? Sure. But try working in a store like I did when it was 85 to 90 degrees. We employees finally banded together and threatened to walk out if they didn't lower the temperature. We settled on 75 degrees.
The OP said they were working in 78 degrees. So ask for it to be turned down to 7533
It’s very hot and uncomfortable in my store as well. Just comes down to how they don’t care about employees at all. It starts to cool off around 10:00am when we are open
Find out where the temperature sensors for the AC are located. It’s usually a small box about 1x3 inches or so. They are usually on one of the support poles for the building at about eye level. Buy a pack of those air activated hand warmers and place one at each sensor. The system will think it’s hot and keep the air on until it reaches 75 degrees, but it will be much cooler because the warmer is tricking the sensor.
you can't ask to turn it down; this is obviously in issue in multiple stores across the country because they put out a stern mysource note a month or so back, insisting all a/c's are turned to 75 degrees, and changing the temperature by even a degree would bring MONSTROUS costs, lol
i'm sure the corporate office is nice and cool though
Did you ask that the be turned on/lowered?
"just so u people know". WTF does that mean?
Just so u people know I used to work for the company and left and my Store was hot as he-l and I don’t live in Florida . The company is cheap and they don’t care about their employees simple as that so keep on loving BBB . I went to home goods and the store felt so good and other words you could feel the air why because they care not only about the customers but their employees .
Sweatshop..Beat Down..OMG..some people on here are just waaaay too much!
Don’t worry about the two posters below me because they are here to complain about the so called “complainers” and “whiners” on this board, big time hypocrites. Anyways, BBB has always had terrible A/C issues compared to Home Goods or mostly any other retailer when its actually refreshing to go in there during the spring and summer months. You need a couple fans in receiving just to operate normally.
Try working outside. Try picking crops in a field. Try working on a roof. Try waiting for a bus to get to work in 95 degree heat. Try being a firefighter. Try doing construction. Try to stop complaining.
Okay lets think about this..1. it is summer. 2. You are in Florida 3. Because of those reasons you may be hot. 4. Whiner
They don’t want to spend too much on power. Unlike rent, if they don’t pay the power bill, there are more immediate consequences since you can’t open a store with no lights.
