Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Hold On Tight The Pandemic To Generate Sales Is Over

It’s already started and it’s going to get ugly. Marv and Joe don’t have the pandemic to generate sales and profits. Reality has finally caught up to them! The cutting and terminations have resumed. And it will get much worse.

Marv hasn’t closed the gap with HD stock and he never will. He’s creating another Sear’s that has begun its slow death.

Well if you been with the company for 20 years and are capped at 15/hr you should be looking for another job.

As someone who has worked for Lowe’s for over 20yrs in multiple positions (currently MST) let me say this. The reason mst out number red vests is bc mst are required to work at the same time, and since you think we “do nothing”, how do you think all of your resets get done? Who do you think packs down your bays and moves and counts your top stock? Did you climb the ladder 50 times and pull down more than just the one box to get it off your IRPs or did an mst pack it out and clean up your area? Who corrected all your wrong prices? We know it’s not PSC bc they are too busy doing freight at night to actually do their jobs. Did you walk that customer down the aisle and help them or did they walk straight to a blue shirt and get help? We are supposed to be a team. Yet I don’t see any red vests have to click a button on their phones EVERY time they do anything (service, spot, meeting, break, team lift). That’s right we go to break they time it. We go to the bathroom they time it. We spot for you they time it. Oh and btw I haven’t gotten a raise in 7yrs Bc I’m “capped out” at $15. So before you start bi-----g about mst do their job for one solid day. Just make sure you can clean and pack out 22 bays a day.

Getting rid of high hourly paid employees has been going on for several years now. If you make over $15.00/hr and have no management duties or maybe delivery driver responsibilities then you will eventually be targeted if you have not already. They are using ‘safety violations’ , failure to make ‘sales budgets’, and anything else that they can tie to ‘job performance’ to get rid folks that have spent years climbing the pay scale. They are intentionally d-mbing down their own workforce and basically only want Walmart-like employees with no trade knowledge or salesmanship skills.

The direction store management has been given is to manage out all of the higher paid hourly employees by end of Q2.

While the pandemic fueled sales may have faded, the profits are still up due to all the inflated post-pandemic recovery pricing. Once lumber prices start to come down and customers sour about paying full sticker price just to obtain a desperately needed appliance then the numbers will really start to free fall. Agree that on most mornings the MST staff outnumber the red-vests. You dare not walk a customer across the store else you may never make it back to your department as customers are desperately looking for ANYONE who may be able to help them. Fifteen plus years of working for Lowe's as a department specialist and more than half my day is typically spent just dealing with customer care issues that have mostly manifested out of all the changes our CEO has brought down on us. Employees are quitting faster than we can hire new ones and the caliber of the employees we are gaining can't even remotely hold a candle to those that we are losing. Unless something changes I don't see any of this ending well for either the stores or our customers.

In my store MST personnel outnumber salespeople on the floor by at least 2 to 1, that is until the blue shirts clock out at 4pm...

Everyone with knowledge of how retail works knew 6 months ago that as soon as some sense of normalcy returned that the expected sales comps would be unattainable and that expenses would have to be cut drastically to keep profits at an acceptable level. As usual the cuts are always in the stores while area/regional/corporate staff sip on their lattes and send emails all day long.

In my area Menards has passed Lowe’s by. We’re number 3 now. The management keeps trying to pretend Menards doesn’t exist. But they can’t wish it away. They just can’t get past their obsession with depot. Meanwhile Menards just keeps taking customers.

We have no one to help customers at our store because of the customer centric schedule. But we do have an army of MST’s that do nothing! Our store looks worse than it ever has. No clean and safe in Ohio.
