Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Critical but thankful

I'm unhappy as many of you all are, about the lack of transparency and sometimes, competency of our management. The lack of flexibility makes it overall a less competitive workplace, and it certainly doesn't help compensation has stalled.

However, we would all be remiss to not see how we are still privileged and fortunate over the other 95% of the US and closer to 99% of the world population. I'm most certain the majority of us earn above average salaries for our age groups, some of you even stand withing the top 1% of your age population.
Sure, growth and career stimulation is just as important as compensation, but in the gran scheme of things I'm sure you'll do fine with a 150k salary for the next few months.

Now if it doesn't work for you, then by all means leave. If its toxic for you, leave, if you tested the market and found more appealing options leave. Like someone said earlier, it's just business after all. EM is a corporation that you should not consider as a family, they certainly don't consider you as one. It's all just business.

That doesn't mean you can't be grateful you overpaid ph-k.

If you have the skills to make 6 figures in one company, you have the skills to make them in another company. That's not to encourage anyone to leave, but you shouldn't stick around only because you are paid to well to leave. That motivation alone is insufficient to keep you from NSI...

Why would you waste so much wifi space on your dribbly doo-dah, friendo.
Your keyboard only has so many strokes.

Wouldn’t “ Another employee that didn’t come from a privileged upbringing” happen to be the same as the first employee who didn’t come from a privileged upbringing and both be the OP ? Try harder, what you’re doing smells really bad and it’s way to easy to figure out, Mr. Thankful.

You should have posted this on Yammer, to get you some very, very brown brownie points. You’re barking at the wrong tree here.

Amen. Forever grateful to work at a company with a meritocracy based assessment system. Another employee that didn’t come from a privileged upbringing.

Lol preach. I grew up poor as sh-t and am glad I'm making six figures for a low stress job. Most of my colleagues came from upper class life with parents that were doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc so no wonder they're not as grateful.

That being said I'm not settling, personally still seeking new opportunities but will always thank EM.
