Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Are there any good SM left?

It’s amazing how much my store manager gives bad vibes. I really don’t know how he got to that position at all, because with his behavior he totally throws employees off balance. The only motivation he can give is for us to get out of here. Are there any good SMs left at Belk at all?

Hate to hear that people don't have real leadership in their stores. One of the only reasons I continue to stay through this BS thats being rolled out is due to my Management. Sounds like I am lucky one. My SM is out 'in the trenches' with all of us daily....merchandises the new inventory that comes in, helps put the returns and go backs where they belong, helps with fulfillment orders and helps with recovery all day. In fact, all of my Managers are 'all over it' most of the time. If they weren't, I would've been long gone. I don't know how they do it all...he-l, I don't know how any of us are continuing to do it all. I am all over the place, all the time. Lord help us.

I remember when the STM in Greenville got punched for getting smart with an associate. Both of them got fired.

We have decent store managers
who come to the register, help with go backs recovery returns when they see assocates are overwhelmed due to the minimum of staff having to multitask now. They also ask, would you, instead of dictating to us, and say thank you at the end of our shift. YaWe only have one manager who talks condescending and down to us, alone and in front of customers. We dont understand why shes still employed oh yeah because shes friends with store manager

The company sucks, and I read all these horror stories about SMs, but I’m honestly pretty lucky. My SM may not be the best manager in the world, but she absolutely works her a-s off. If nothing else, she gets her hands just as dirty as anyone else and she is completely engaged all day, every day. I honestly feel bad for the entire management team at my store. With the exception of one or two, they’re all as grossly overworked as the rest of us are.
It’s why as much as I hate the company, the job, and the ridiculous pay, I won’t leave unless a much better job comes up.
And don’t down vote this just be a brat. I’m not kissing any a-s, it’s just true :P

The reason most employees are unclear about what a store manager or RVP actually does, is quite simple, because they do very, very little, if anything at all. They are figureheads that in most cases are promoted or hired by someone they know on a personal level, have worked with before at another company, had an intimate relationship with, or are simply buddies with, this is what causes a company to collapse and causes the truly hardworking, valuable workers to quit or go to a new job. It's a systemic problem with Belk.
