Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Does it have much to do with Belk or are there other reasons?

I wonder if the departure of a large number of vendors from Belk is the fault of this company or would most vendors decide to reduce store presence even if the situation at Belk was much better but because the pandemic accelerated some trends that started rolling earlier?

It’s definitely Belk. Other retailers have not had a problem. Did they sell different merchandise DURING the pandemic? Sure. Were their sales down? Yep.
Did they also staff their stores properly afterwards, so that they could open dressing rooms, have customer service at registers, merchandise correctly, clean their stores, and receive stock from vendors that people actually want to buy from? Also yes.
Covid was an excuse for Belk. Unfortunately, now that other stores are back to (mostly) normal, they can’t hide it anymore.
