I'm starting a new job on Monday and I'm overjoyed that I won't have to come to the store anymore and survive all that humiliation. I am almost certain that I will never come as a customer either. How many of us do you think who, after fleeing from here, never came back again even to buy something at Lowe's?

Started my own company with a friend and quit Lowe’s we fix up rentals and flip houses. The first thing I did after filing the Buisiness paperwork was to go get a Home Depot pro account. I will never give another penny to that horrible corporation.
I worked for the company for 24 years and left several years ago, near the beginning of the Niblock/Ellison transition period. I felt the company actually began to go downhill during the Niblock tenure with many of his bone-headed decisions(Orchard acquisition, Australian jo--t venture, etc). I still shop at Lowe’s but I always check Amazon first to see if they offer a better deal on an item—sometimes they do, other times it’s better to just buy it at Lowe’s. As far as the HD/Lowe’s comparison, in my market Lowe’s is actually the stronger one and outperforms Depot consistently. I recently had a horrible experience with Home Depot and will not ever shop with them again.
When I go in Lowe’s I see how stressed out the employees are and often wonder how I was able to work in that kind of environment for so long, it amazes me when I think about it. Each time I go in there I notice that there are fewer and fewer employees that are there left from when I worked there.
Despite my current disdain for many of the current decisions coming out of the corporate office when it comes to spending my own money and the specific products I purchase I will continue to act objectively after I depart from Lowe's. I myself am a hard core DIY customer and prior to working for Lowe's my two favorite hardware stores were Builders Square and Scotty's. Sadly both are now closed. As for Home Depot vs Lowe's the distinction is no longer as defined after all of the changes implemented by our current CEO. I use to jokingly compare Home Depot to Walmart and Lowe's to Target but I would have to say we are both Walmart's now (with some of the Lowe's stores in my area teetering more towards Kmart status). That being said, it is unlikely I will shop at Lowe's very often once my employee discount is gone unless it is some specific product that I simply can't easily get elsewhere (e.g. Kobalt, Craftsman). Still exclusively buy Behr paint at Home Depot and prefer their Echo OPE to any of the brands we carry. Most of my major purchases are timed for our annual 20% employee appreciation week and will be forever lost to Lowe's once that is gone.
Our motto is to do more with less.
A whole lot less than is really required. I’ll just say I’ve been with the company a while now, thankfully I don’t work in a store, and do not step foot in our stores. I know on my side of the fence they constantly reorganize and seem to hate employees with all of the industrial era employee unfriendly rules they roll out. I deal with our stores daily and You can hear it over the phone how stressed most people are, right up to the Asm’s. The Corp side isn’t much better. I think the only ones that ever seem to be in a good mood are the ones with VP in the title.
Lowe’s seems to have lost its way since good ole Marv and his activist investors started gutting the company. Oh well. I used to LOVE working for Lowe’s. Now I show up and collect my check until either they tell me to leave or I get mad enough to walk out. The latter is probably going to happen in the near future.
Worked there almost 13 yrs, only go in if I,m too lazy to drive to Home depot or to see the few old friends that still slave there.

Worked there 11.5 years. Been gone 3.5 years. NEVER setting foot in one again.
I will just to say hello and see how bad things are going.
