Any idea when the new software will come out?

CTA and Field TA may restructure into one when new software comes into play. That is IF it actually works. If it does work, less CTA will be needed. So the higher skilled ones may move into more of a Sourcer or Corporate Recruiter role. SSAs will get freed up from some tasks as well, so may have more added duties from the Front End/Operations. The hourly recruitment market is getting increasingly competitive, so there is plenty of work to go around.
Are you bitter? Maybe you should try to be better.
The SSA position is a joke. 90 things rolled into one, not much more pay. A constant stream of complaints from the floor, fix this, do that. They are going to take away schedule edits, you'll get what the computer assigns for a shift. The SSA positions keep getting posted because it's the job from HE-L! Yes, an office, never ever a break. DO the schedule, now cut 200 hours, check to see who has too many days sick, now only fire the people you don't like. Favoritism is rampant! How is Lowe's not sued more? Oh yeah, arbitration. Store Managers don't run the store. I'm expecting to get let go tomorrow. It will save my life! Losing your hair? call the CALM line, we will not reduce your workload!
I’ve heard new software will eliminate the need for CTAs. We’ll see 4th qtr. as that’s when all the changes happen.
No way our SSA will be trained to other high level HR or recruitment tasks. Ours and many others I’ve met are just a Store Mgrs secretary. Stays in the office most of the day. My store would prefer having our old HRM back or just outsource everything with hiring. Unlike others in our district, our last HRM actually helped us on the floor with customers/zoning, collected carts and seemed to actually care.
CTA not to go, they are too productive compared to other positions like TAP and SSA. I lean on my CTA for almost everything.
CTA is surely gone before the end of the year. Absolutely useless. The CTA Managers are the worst, especially in the west division. They hired some military hauncho to run talent acquisition and it is a mess. Guy thinks he knows HR and recruiting because he conned 18 year olds into joining the military.
The director of TA also just randomly resigned or got fired in the last month. She abruptly called us all to a meeting and said she would be transitioning out. Huge news and blow to everyone. It has been chaos since the beginning of the year. Someone thought it would be a good idea to hire a bunch of temp recruiters to hire for the Spring. However, they were only paying the recruiters $26 an hour or less to hire 50,000 people. We all just sat there and pretended to do work as temp recruiters.
CTAs are definitely being eliminated before the end of the year. Maybe they will have a title or new roles, but the position is being eliminated. Sorry.
CTA not being eliminated. Titles and structure may look different by the end of the year due to adjustments with new technology. CTA is heavily needed in recruitment as they manage high volume workloads. Remote positions are highly valuable and the way TA/HR in all companies are moving towards. There’s more productivity, less biased, little to no Worker’s Comp cases and easier way to recruit a higher skilled HR Professional without paying for relocation. Seems like every few years there’s always a rumor mill swirling about layoffs related to HR that supports the stores.
Hate to tell you, but all hourly positions are getting eliminated by end of fiscal year. The company is going to be doing a trial run of an app next quarter that's basically like uber, but for staffing. No more need for HR/scheduling anyone installs the app, answers some questions and then they pick shifts available as independent contractors, if they don't work out they can be blocked from the app. Like a giant temp agency.
CTA will be eliminated before the end of year. We do absolutely nothing as talent specialists. There’s a huge disconnect between HR and the talent Acquisition side.
I see pages of openings for Staffing and Scheduling Administrator positions, but only a couple of openings for CTA and those are all temporary. Is CTA being eliminated?
I agree with the previous poster. I think SSA’s will eventually be eliminated, as well as remote CTA/ATA. The talent acquisition folks from what I can tell bring very little to the table anyway, as they basically just network, head-hunt, and recruit. Consolidate area HR with regional offices and let them handle screening/initial interviewing/recruiting/placement out of one central location. Onboarding and orientation is basically automated now anyway. With even more automation on the way, I could easily see a lot of these positions going away.
No way SSA's role will stay with Lowe's. All of TA will be restructured as new software roles out within the next year and I honestly don't think Area HR Business Partners will stay in field for Lowe's either.
They have taken so much of their duties away and a lot of HR seems to be leaving or transitioning to other roles. With myHR in place, why do we need an Area HRBP?
As far as CTA - I think their roles will be redefined for sure or at least streamlined. Unsure about the TAPS in the field.
SSA role is a waste of payroll
CTAs are remote. And yes, all of our tasks could be easily absorbed by the SSA and TAPs. CTAs are paid more than the SSA role. Lowe’s Logic: hand the tasks over to the SSA and keep paying them that bull cr-p hourly wage
Marvin needs to put more people in the aisles and less in meaningless corporate positions with fancy titltes.
Are CTA’s remote workers or do they work out of the stores? From what I can tell they don’t do anything other than phone interviews, online application reviews, and post on social media. The SSA’s should be able to handle those duties.
I meant to say the CTA specialist exist for the “exempt” duties and the SSA for the non-exempt duties that were previously done by the Hr Manager. Lowe’s suffered a complete mess with the way they had HR set up and they’ve been trying to fix it for the past few years with no luck. They put a quick fix in place and didn’t think it all through very well. Now they even have some CTA specialist who are paid hourly and some who are paid salary but doing the same exact job. And the job they are doing is just so that they can call the SSA’s hourly employees. Just digging deeper holes for themselves.
Seems like they’ll probably eliminate the CTA Specialists rather than the SSA. There has been a ton of fishy stuff happening within Central Talent Acquisition the past few months and everyone is running for the doors. Just feels like we are worthless to the company. They added SSAs and CTA Specialists to break up the past duties of the HR Managers. The CTA Specialists only exist so that there can be a middle person to handle the “non-exempt” tasks the HR managers used to handle.. which wasn’t very much. I believe they’ve been training the SSAs on the duties they will take over from CTA
I was an SSA up until Mid-April in Florida. With the implementation of Equifax taking over i9's, Orientations becoming non-existent and Area HR preferring we make a minimal amount of schedule edits, I was almost certain this position would either be eliminated or scaled back to a lower paying Admin position with Dept. Supervisors and ASM's picking up the slack on scheduling/hiring. But I've still seen consistent postings for the SSA role and even bench, so maybe just a duty change or title change.
