Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Question for those who have quit

Or anybody else who might be in the know. Is there an exit interview at Cisco? Is it simply something to make sure you have returned any equipment you might have or do they ask about the reasons you are leaving? If there is and they do, are people honest in their answers or do they just say something generic, like better opportunity, to not burn their bridges?

I resigned to go work for a Cisco competitor. Once my manager found that out, they cut ties immediately. No exit interview, just “send in your laptop and cancel your AMEX”. I worked at Cisco on and off for a span of 20+ years, the company is at a very low point. It’s too bad, it used to be a good place to work.

I resigned and got an online survey to fill out... however, the advice of not burning bridges is a good one. The valley is small...

I have been at the new company for about 2 months and I have to say that the first couple of weeks i was stunned at how nice and hopeful people behaved. i truly believe that the culture that once made cisco a great place and been upended by the behaviors that the regular cadence of layoffs drives. polish your resume... there are many great opportunities out there.

I only did the exit interviews was to make sure I would receive my PTO pay.

They can't refuse to pay you your PTO. That's why they started making mandatory PTO periods as well as "highly encouraged" PTO usage during the pandemic lock down because they were building up too much of a liability with people having too many hours of unused PTO.

I resigned 2 years ago with no package and had (3) different exit interviews. I am an older, white male. Why I had 3 different exit interviews? I felt they were trying to determine if I was planning a lawsuit or something. I said "my experience at Cisco was great and wanted to try something different". I took the high road and didn't say anything negative about the challenging culture or other issues. I only did the exit interviews was to make sure I would receive my PTO pay.

I think exit interviews are only for people who quit.

I've been lucky enough to bag that bonus pay called LR severance package twice and other than having the 1-on-1 meeting w/ my manager for him or her to read the required HR notice that informs me I'm no longer needed, that I have to turn in any keys, badges, company credit cards, laptop and any other company property, and describes my termination date, severance details, etc. that's it.

On my last day, I'd come in and take my laptop to the local technical support center and turn it in, get a receipt for it and then visit my manager and hand over my badge & corporate credit card. Back in the day w/ free drinks in the break room, I'd grab a soda on my way out and enjoy the rest of the day.

I took the ER..no exit interview at all. Do not burn bridges but give general constructive criticism without mentioning names. Keep in mind that other functions within Cisco may be interested in you further down the road.

It’s very informal and up to the discretion of the manager. I had my pc for several months before I sent it back (due to Covid19).
