Why is it that our executives are incapable of rational thought? Why do we continue to hire outside vendors to tell executive what to do & how to do it, when all it is doing is destroying the company, alienating the workforce and causing a turnover rate that simply isn't sustainable.
By definition, leaders, lead, managers, manage. We have neither making decisions that affect the entire company. Just several people who are so busy doing the CYA dance in order to justify prior bad decisions.
Instead of fixing the issues that exit surveys give as reasons why people are leaving (guessing working conditions or stress and pay as primary) Yi comes up with Plug & Play. So, we take people and force them to work in areas they are not qualified to work in or may even be below their current job rating (ie a claim specialist working as a claim associate) to get things done because we are incapable of addressing the issues causing the retention problem (which again, Yi's responsibility for poor, bordering on stupid, decisions) in the first place. You know, like firing 35% of our claims force.... How dang stupid was that?
Why can't these "leaders" understand that the turnover rate is untenable. Nearly 50% of our new hires with less than 1 year of experience run out the door. What happens when those with the golden handcuffs call it a career and walk? Not to mention those who are being forced back into the office who want to work from home. Who is going to teach, train, help or answer questions?
Under Ed Rust, we knew what we were, a service company. Service companies, by definition need talented, skilled, qualified people to provide that service. Now we have a CEO who is so incompetent that HR has to BEG people to go to review sites like Glass Door to post positive reviews because the independent reviews of the company and it's CEO are so poor.
If you don't have golden handcuffs, run. I personally know many people that have left SF and gone to a competitor (who's key spokespersons "name" rhymes with Glo) that speak glowingly about their jobs. Most often used phrase I hear is, "It's like SF used to be".
Korn Ferry is coming. Another vendor that will tell our "leadership" (boy do I use that term loosely) how to run our company. Isn't that what "leadership" gets paid for? This one is going to tell exec where YOU should work. What your talents and abilities are, regardless of the fact that you have been doing the job (hopefully well) for X number of years. KF is the all-knowing, all-seeing entity that will decide the rest of your career (at least here at SF). I wonder if anyone above the level of TM is going to have to complete the survey. Mikey, if you're reading this, I know you don't want to take it, but have the rest of exec do so. That would be interesting!!
That begs the question, are we hiring vendors because our exec team is incompetent or are they getting kickbacks?
