Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

WFH or bust

I was actually excited to be getting back into the office to get away from the wife and kids for a while but as I come back I'm noticing a lot of my coworkers have been putting in their resignation because they actually enjoyed working from home is this happening in anyone else's department?

If you have proved you can work from home for a year without issue, legally speaking, your on firm ground to remain working from home.

This is for the US only.

If I recall correctly, GF Singapore has an attrition rate above 15-20%.
In the comm session, HR blamed management and KC Ang blamed Singapore.

I was told PI department turnover is 30-40%.
So many departments desperate for just anyone but no locals would apply and foreigners can't get permits to come to Singapore nowadays.

Wonder how GF is going to sustain normal operation to support its IPO

OP, which location are you in?

In F7 and GIGA, many Chinese from China left for China due to better salaries and higher positions. GF pay is almost the lowest in the industry, especially if you have been with GF/Chartered since day one.

Else, many capable ones are moving to competitors/customers/vendors sites as everyone is hiring.

Do they have another job lined up? I haven't seen it yet in my dept. Lots of engineers quit during the pandemic.
