speaking as a 35+ year associate working only in mens shoes, could someone possibly give some thought on just where this department is headed? My stock is so low it is very hard to sell anything without having to order sizes. we get a few fill ins occasionally, but never any new stock, unless its the cheap stuff nobody wants, sun and stone for example is just wallmart quality! where is the good stuff, rockport, johnston murphy, clarks, timberland just to name a few. I know we are headed to open floor concept , but since I work in a union store it is more of a challenge to switch over. any other shoe dogs out there feeling the same?

- 95.. be happy. i'm barely at $12.
I believe the only benefits for being at Macy’s that long are lifetime discount, your 401k and maybe a small pension that they stopped back like in 2007.
@1qis You've worked in a union store for 38 years, union dues are almost $50 a month, and you're only making $14.95 an hour? You need a new union asap. You're getting the shaft.
working in a union store isnt all that great, yes layoffs do go by seniority, but that is really the only good thing. the monthly dues cost almost $50 and the pay is horrible! after 38 years of service I am making $14.95 per hour!
Nice that you work in a union store. You worked 35 plus years and didn’t get laid off. Your store must recognize seniority unlike most other stores.
simple all those quality brands you mention are pulling out of macys cause they are afraid they wont get paid.. macys is flooding their store with their junk brands cause it makes more.. macys has turn to a junk warehouse
I think it's time to retire!!!😃4
I have worked open sell. Switching to open sell is easy. It's unskilled labor. You don't need salespeople. You put all the shoes on shelves or racks, hire some high school or college kids at part time to fill the floor, set sales, and clean up the floor after customers. Yes, the shoes are of cheaper quality and you will get a different type of customer shopping in your store but sales increase with lower overhead. Good luck.
