Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

What is up with monthly questions we have to answer in claims?

Does anyone actually do the development questions or put any effort into them?

It’s always questions based on metrics like I can control who’s calling in on rework or how I can do better.

Like why in the actual F do we have to answer these questions like we are in high school?

Like I hardly have time to read an email no joke! let alone think about how miserable my job is.

Also what the he-l is the point of frequent 1x1s in claims? Like it’s the same thing nothing to talk about, manager talks about growth opportunities in a hiring freeze that hasn’t lifted since I started a few years back.

Am I the only one that finds this awkward and weird?

All this chaos, all because SF wants to six sigma the staffing and not waste a single cent on hiring an additional employee than their metrics say they need, theyll spend millions to avoid spending that $40k a year.....all to protect upper management bonuses. We suffer so the wealthy dont have to, oldest story out there.

@dko+1bjm You hit the nail on the head! The unrealistic metrics are designed to do three things:

  1. Keep the employee chained to their workspace
  2. Prevent the employee from getting a decent pay increase
  3. And, most importantly, allow State Farm to fire the employee "with cause." Therefore preventing the employee to collect unemployment benefits.

I'm sure there are more that I haven't thought of.

As an SM I can tell you everything is metrics, metrics, metrics. Realistically there is NO way any SM, TM or claim rep can meet the realistic expectations of metrics. Expect things to get worse not better. I don't say this to be mean. I am saying I have friends at Geico, USAA and Allstate all in claims. They think they are in he-l with no escape. Pretty soon EVERYONE will likely be on performance management. It's not realistic to think expect otherwise. I think the TM's have it worse. SM where you can shift the s*it down hill. Claim reps only responsible for themselves. TM's get it from both side. SM and claim reps. And if any of these companies they need to reduce staff, then it's easy to fire people and avoid lawsuits. The person didn't meet expectations laid out in all the performance reviews. Prepare to find a good therapist and god willing time to develop other job skills.

Remember! They use that data against the worker. Can't you see that? Just like surveys for mgmt. They tailor it all to quantify their existence.

@ OP

in my area we get 2 1x1 per month ... honestly its just too much , for some it might be needed but for me i find it un-necessary , in 5 mins i can get the info i need so 1 1x1 is enough but we get 2 for no apparent reason plus a monthly team meeting ...

I honestly wish they would hire more people instead of what they are doing right now, which is to squezee water out of rock, nothing is coming out because we are already as over taxed as we can be with work.

Its because the farm is grossly understaffed. The auto company netted over 2 billion in i come between 2020 and 2019 and increased auto policies by over a million in May of this year which means more claims..aka more work…..so they are going to squeeze everything they can on the existing employees when the real answer is…HIRE more employees…..
