Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Why are you still emotionally attached to this company?

Leadership is focusing on the next big thing. And that thing isn’t oilfield service or tools. They don’t care if you’re making money. You are about to be sold, merged, or just closed. Stop being emotionally attached to your job and this company. Baker will be here as whatever leadership decides, you will not. They are banking that you’ll take care of everything for them, while they’re setting up their own parachutes.

This is well said. OP: @fbl+1bhyhjpe. All around me are people who care too much about this company and what the future holds for BH. It is a waste of energy. I am no longer interested in what is happening or what will happen to this company. All anyone should be interested in is their next job.

@4zgj+1bixNeoW the word you mentioned when referring to the "people" was misspelled.

They accidentally added the letter T to the word by mistake. Proof reader was laid off the prior week. So, no sign of intelligence left and spell check is too complex for the wizards that only use Power Point.

I question that they could keep a grass cutting business open. Speaking of which, when will BH start cutting the grass? BH is an eye sore everywhere you go. Time to tighten up, vivid is over.

The current C suite is going to rip this thing apart hoping to fall back on their GE cushion of previous years... not a single officer from O&G background where all they specialize in is moving money around and false reporting savings

Wow, that’s almost my exact same story. Good luck to you.

Despite it all, I think I learned a lot from Baker. Also, I enjoy the fact of no longer dealing with the bad stuff of corporate life.

I think many others have figured this out. And many will never return to those ungrateful employers 😂

Remember when Lorenzo and his executives said that the people are the most important assets of the organization?

Do they still say that?

I’m on the outside looking in :-_(

😂 nah, not missing it!

“Why are you still emotionally attached to this company?”

I’m not. Never was.

BH/GE/whatever was just a pit stop.

Been out of BH for about a year.
Rolled 401K to a small investment firm, where my money actually means something.
Contributed another $60k from money made this year. My return since March of this year is 14%.
On my wife’s insurance and we project that I will meet my BH salary including bonuses and 401k match by September.
There are many gaps in today’s economy. And those gaps are easy for people like us. It might not sound or look great, but it’s fun and the competition drives the $ up for you.

Everyone has to find their own thing!
I’m the original author of the beginning of this post. Go prove yourself to yourself, and forget this company and the people left in it.

Good luck.
