Extremely disgruntled IOL employee here. Currently age 53 with 15 years service. I could quit at any time and take my pension payout in a lump sum and transfer it to a LIRA and earn the same amount as I would get with a discounted IOL pension at 55. I figure I would rather have control of my pension funds and see regular dividend increases as opposed to a fixed IOL pension with little or no increases over the rest of my life. My question is: what is so great about retiree benefits that would make me want to stay and actually retire with an IOL pension and benefits?

do you get severance if PIP'd and 'fired'?
Better to get fired and take the severance.
I may rage quit any day now
Buy ETF with LIRA and let it grow. Try to get another job if you want to work further. Don’t ruin your physical & mental health by working in this sh---y station. Imperial pension won’t help if you do that.
Survivor benefits, gas discount, health & dental, ad-hoc pension increases, university tuition for your kids, and the piece de resistance - the annuity club membership!
If you don't enjoy your job try applying for alternative positions while still working, then quit and get the payout. Life is too short to be miserable or disgruntled. Your earnings at the new gig and the payout should be more than enough. If you think whatever is upsetting you will change in a year or so- try to stick it out. Stuff is certainly weird right now!
