Lowest morale ever even with higher prices

Interesting how people are so miserable right now even though we should be happy. What would fix morale?

Morale may get better when “We” (OXY) becomes one company and quits black listing LAPC employees. It may help if we actually put action to our Core Values. Innovative!? Sure,
“This is how we’ve always done it!” Wait… a better way to streamline? You’re absurd. “This is the way!”

My moral is pretty damn high. Oil prices are up, and Oxy appears to be out of the woods for bankruptcy or acquisition.

If you can’t see positives in that, then leave. Seems pretty simple.

The bad word here is the word “Tell”. There are many people in IT who can contribute to solutions in geomodeling and geoscience issues but they should never tell them how to do their job. It should always be a team effort and not one side telling the other how to do their business. Perhaps you got it all wrong.

Very right about IT poking their noses into other support groups supporting Geoscientists and trying to tell them how to do their jobs, exert power over these other support groups. Depending on the Leadership of the support groups, IT will back off when Leadership changes to a Leader with more clout then when the Leadership changes to a person with perceived less power and clout, IT starts in all over again.

I'll be honest - I work closely with many different groups in several locations, and I don't see low morale anywhere but on this website! Seriously, folks seem to be genuinely optimistic, in stark contrast to 18 months ago. If you go look on most any other companies' section on this website, you'll see the same thing - seemingly low morale. Anonymous boards like this tend to attract comments from malcontents and low performing employees.

There are thousands of employees in several states, different countries, and different business units. I’m sure your survey on morale may have been 100% scientific, but maybe it’s just your friends and the amen chorus on this site that are warping your analysis. Ever thought of that?

Need Competent Leadership to stand up to other business units like IT who try to bully and tell us how to do our work when they have NO right to do so. Just want to ho-n in and take over more support groups!

Competent engineers and geologists would be nice. Hire some or train the ones we have.

Honesty from leadership and competence from managers would be a start. A little bit of trust goes a long way. Money doesn’t fix everything.

Simple: new leadership. Replace V & G and a couple BU leaders and morale will go through the roof. And help IT and HR be more competent and value adding
