Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Is small grocery store a better choice?

I got an offer to move to a small grocery store and I think I will accept it because I absolutely can’t take it here anymore while looking for something better. No one should have to suffer the humiliations that are commonplace in Walmart.
Does anyone have experience of what it’s like to work in a small grocery store compared to Walmart? I believe that there are problems there as well, but I do not believe that I will encounter the problems I had here.

@5rlz+1bfqmCKZ Walmart doesn’t appreciate long term associates as well as any loyalty. After almost 10 years I had about enough when they pulled their latest bulsit with the team schedules. It was designed to get long term associates out the door without Walmart having to lay off employees, give a severance or pay any unemployment. They are an awful employer. They just keep taking more and more away from the employees. They are GREEDY and it’s all about profit and they don’t value their employees who make them their BILLIONS. Also management is awful, I don’t know where they find them but they should all be fired because how they treat people. Start looking elsewhere and stop wasting your time at Walmart. You don’t want to be like me who gave almost 10 years of their life to a company that simply doesn’t give a $hit about me or anyone else. We are simply just a WIN that is disposable in their eyes.

Sniffing farts out of school bus seats at the end of the school day is better than working at Walmart.

I am a cashier at walmart / Smokeshop front end. I've worked at walmart for over 4 years. I think it stinks, what walmart is doing to their associates . I know walmart gets to choose who is worthy of getting pay raise and who's not and same with the bonus. I do know being a cashier is not always easy. We have been risking our lives working very close to the customers with this cov19 stuff going around. I feel the only compensation we get from endanging our lives. We no longer get myshare pay outs so others can get their raises. No bonus , no pay raise and now more work doing leads work on top of ours job. Feel very unappreciated. The leads get the pay raise and bonus's and dont even need to do their jobs. Slap in the face.

I think a small store would be better. Not as busy as Walmart. I’m sure you would get treated a lot better than the treatment you get at Walmart. Walmart is always understaffed, never enough help. One cashier lines out the door. On top of being overworked you are also treated badly. I say get out of Walmart if you get the opportunity.

If you leaving Walmart for that reason probably you will have same issues in a small Store . I heard you sometimes are the only few employees in the Store and they expect you to do everything since the others call out all the time or they are understaffed and on top they have call outs . You can’t get easily days off or leave on time .

Depends on the store really. Some smaller chains has the same toxic atmosphere in some of their stores too. You just get paid less to put up with it. Do your research on n that particular company and store.
