Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

How much is it all worth?

Someone mentioned a very important thing and that is sacrifice: Management acknowledged sacrifice in order to make the project successful.
I am sick of the mantra that employees should often sacrifice themselves, their time and their health for this company. Here, I have sacrificed a lot more over the years than I should have. And what did I get for all that sacrifice of mine while I very often worked almost non-stop? I just got a bigger urge to get out of here as soon as possible.

I agree with your last comment about making a decision about what to do with your life. I am not convinced that the conditions elsewhere are so much better and times are hard. Outside the US, virtually no-one is traveling and thats a problem. From the US virtually is no one is traveling internationally and thats another problem. I think the company has done a major job to try and look after its employees and they got my vote

"And what did I get for all that sacrifice of mine while I very often worked almost non-stop? I just got a bigger urge to get out of here as soon as possible." - I second that.

I got paid, yes but like everybody else probably not enough. But I accepted the challenge to continue as a team player and put in extra hours to support the paying customer and making the assumption that management would appreciate it with some type of reward. The whole work world has changed and it does not matter in the long run how much you personally sacrifice because you the individual are only another cog in the big wheel that can be replaced. Best thing is accept that reality and either move on or live with it hoping for better days ahead.

I guess s/he was paid for work, not sacrifice.
That seems like a major oversight on your behalf and I would have insisted on it.
