I don't even expect to get a raise anymore. Since I could not get it by hard work, then at least I decided to compensate for it by doing bare minimum. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the only way to get a raise, at all. However, more and more I think that even a raise would not mean much to me, because this company drains me both physically and emotionally. This cannot be compensated by any increase in pay.

Raises are just used to retain people. The only ones that COP cares about are management and hipots. So, unless you are in those categories, raises won't come back for awhile. Until there is a mass exodus to the extent that there are not enough worker bees for the company to execute, raises will be minimal. Raises were NEVER meant to motivate. If you need your job, just bare with it until a better paying job comes along. If you don't need the job, quit. Working for the raise does not work at COP
Interesting you mention not paying packages next round. I’ve heard murmurings of that from a couple of people. Anything to it?
The problem is that most people feel the same way you do. COP is not worried about losing people in this environment. So, not paying raises is an attempt to force people out so COP does not have to pay packages on the next layoff round. If you are not getting raises, the company could care less if you stay or go. You are a warm body
I pretend to work… and they pay me.
You wouldn't have to pay me at all if they just started clothing-optional Mondays/ Fridays and a weekly supply of coke and li---r.
A raise will come after the next couple of rounds of layoffs and mergers and failed targets...or not. Only hipots and management get nice, fat raises regularly. For the rest of us, there’s always “a reason.” If you’ve ever heard: “it’s not just about time in SGL...” or “you just need a bit more exposure...” or “I really tried for you this round, but maybe next...” then you’re not on the list. Find another employer because if you have to ask if you’re going to have a career at ComicalPhukkups, then you’re not.
OP, would significantly raising our stock price motivate you? I remember when COP stock tracked WTI dollar for dollar (still mediocre), but that ended when the dividend was cut to almost nothing to keep from having our credit rating downgraded. We permanently lost many investors who held the stock simply for the above average dividend.
So we continue spending billions on stock buybacks in addition to buying more "reserves" trapped in cr-p rock because RL has been burned too many times by all the "talent" that still works here. This company used to focus on finding, producing, and selling hydrocarbons. Now we focus too much on stupid stuff that adds nothing to the bottom line, which nicely explains our discounted stock price.
I’d take a pay cut if we could eliminate all the BS and lies that saturate our company. This house of cards will fall one day.
