Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Age discrimination

It seems that Belk can now employ everyone except those who are older?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but... They've recently hired a person who doesn't care about her job at all. Meanwhile, the mother of a friend of mine who needs a job, who was a great employee in the previous company and who would do the job here very conscientiously, applied but to no avail. Just because she's older? Unfortunately, I think that's the only reason.

I experienced age discrimination, was "offered" a part time position because my particular sub speciality didn't "need" a full time position. I think it was really because I made the most money on my team, I was nearing 50, and Belk didn't feel like paying for health insurance.

I wish had filed a legal complaint. Talked to a lawyer. Done what I could on a daily basis to let the store manager know her blatant age discrimination was unwelcome and actionable. I was way too timid.

Oh, it's not a white thing, they treat older black sisters wrong too. This is going on store to store, state to state.

WHERE'S THE LOYALTY BELK?
AGE DISCRIMINATION
You have associates watch videos, related to age, culture, disability, gender, and race discrimination. But you do not abide by your guidelines, so hypocritical, just wrong.
Older employee's hours are cut to the bare minimum, some of these associates have dedicated over 14 years to this company, and this is how you treat them?
TAKE HEED YOUNG ASSOCIATES, EVERYONE GROWS OLD, THIS IS YOUR BELK'S FUTURE.

I was a manager at Belk until 2017, as soon as I turned 55, they started treating me differently. One of the most common signs is giving you an unbearable workload while other managers do nothing. They are notorious for this. I left in early 2018.

Belk has been terrible to some elderly people. They don't want them around.

That's anywhere you go, now. I'm 50 and unemployable, despite a stable employment history, college (waste of time!) and skills. Once you get old and, especially, look old as sh!t next to the pretty young kids who won't actually do the work, but look great not doing it.. your goose is thoroughly roasted.
