I need to know if this is unique to my location. Our management team love to tear people down just for the fun of it - because they feel they can. When politeness would do more for productivity we seem to come up short in that department. People in our store can feel that they don’t care for their employees and just want to have control just for the sake of control. Everyone is beat down and honestly, we do what we can to avoid them. It makes me wonder if other stores are like this as well.

Seeing both sides of this company, stores and corporate I can definitively say the problems are in both areas. Same mentalities, finger pointing...not my problem...I'm above that...and my favorite pass the buck. People in positions they have no right being in because they have no idea how what they oversee even works. Now they are cutting back on everything and giving people much more to do with no compensation which in turn is contributing to the toxic behavior that has plagued BBB for all these years.
Same in Canada. Management is toxic and passive aggressive bullying.

The toxic mentality is so ingrained and pervasive in the BBBY culture that its near impossible to clear it out. Changes being implemented across the board for the better only exacerbate these behaviors. Its the same people with the same attitude, “we have always done it this way”, “they don't know what they are talking about”, that will prevent future success and maintain the toxic behaviors. They are the stage 4 cancer if this company. To late and to pervasive to treat.
Beaten down? A bit melodramatic. ..
That starts with the DM! SM and keys are frazzled because of the tasks and self learning.
I hear it all the time in my store. They are not shy in asking for giving your best but know we can only do so much. They are honest about the expectations.
Well, I guess the complaining is better than all the "predictions" that get posted and then don't happen.
