Online sales

Do you think the company is well positioned to boost online sales? Can BBBY do better in that regard? I am an ordinary employee in one of the stores and I am interested in how BBBY online sales seem compared with some of the competitors?

@8vrw & @vuz I am at another retailer in store support and fulfillment and view our board as well as others such as BB&B to get the views of others in the retail industry. I saw an opportunity to complement BB&B so I did. Rather than a thank you I get questioned and a sarcastic comment. And yes I have posted on Yelp for a number of companies when I get good service.

well customer, if that IS your real name

don't worry, order enough times and you'll find out, lol

i personally had to stop one of our shippers from mailing two large glass yankee candles in an envelope, not every store has the luxury of someone who knows what they're doing

Customer here. I have never had a problem with online ordering from BB&B. Items were always in stock and I received them within a few days. I recommended BB&B to my niece and her fiance as one of the stores for their wedding list. So far it's working out fine.

i always thought we were positioned well in that regard, before last year happened and other companies hadn't shifted more to online ordering; you could come into the store and we'll place the order for you, we'll do it over the phone, we can waive shipping, add coupons, deliver to their house or in store

the bump we hit is that they tried to pivot too heavily into online sales too quickly and didn't give stores the time or staff to properly prepare and train, so now you have all the customer complaints about broken merch (fedex doesn't help in that regard either), incorrect merch, things never sent, etc. those things are all gonna hold our competitiveness back unfortunately

I think we have a lot of work to do. Based on overall company sales over the recent year we aren’t replacing lost in-store sales with online. If you look at replys to our company’s Facebook and Twitter posts we have a lot of work to do with online order customer service. I know a lot of people complain on those platforms, but we have a lot more than say Target does and they fill way more orders. All we can do at the store is ensure our inventory is accurate and fill orders that come to us as quickly as possible. If this Holiday season is anything like last year we are going to need more help to fill orders. Our store had them backing up and we couldn’t even help the people in the store because we were all filling BOPIS orders. Some customers showed up and we had not received their order yet. Another year like that and customers will go elsewhere.

I think it is too early to tell. Some stores had a jump start over us online. Personally I think BBBY will start to make a dent..how much of a dent is anyone's guess. I think the Holiday season will be an indicator.
