Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Why has no one gone public about the major IT outsourcing/layoff after the huge announcement that Fab 8 will offer thousands of new jobs?

Speaking of public, what happened to all the IPO talking points. Suddenly there's meetings and not a mention. If it was happening, it's not anymore, which makes the sale rumours true.

"Infosys was founded by seven engineers in Pune, Maharashtra, India with an initial capital of $250 in 1981.[9] It was registered as Infosys Consultants Private Limited on 2 July 1981.[10] In 1983, it relocated its office to Bangalore, Karnataka, India."

Amazing history and leadership

Fab 8 training. Laughable, we had good candidates but management had no training plan and let them go so that the team can expand the outsourced crew.

Infosys can’t deal with tickets on a timely manner. And fu----g GSD have no clue what they are looking at most of the time.

Infosys IT most of the time just sent tickets to CIM without even trying to resolve it. Including basic password reset. Mind you IT has multiple self-service links they could have given to the user so that they can reset their own password.

But hey have IT they hired to do level 1 stuff send level 1 tickets to CIM.

When you look at the creation time of the ticket you see that they sat on it for 10 hours before sending it our way and when could have been resolved in 5 minutes.

If you see sev 2 or sev 1 alerts you know these things could have been prevented.

If any issue (ticket) raised then gf employee need to call Infosys and train them how to fix issue. If issue resolves then Infosys did great work and we don't need you(fired) and if issue cause loss to GF then you didn't work with Infosys you are fired.

Clever employee knows end outcome layoff in IT will not work hard and look for opportunity

@1clm+1bWFuaO3 yes and no. Not everyone's systems are architected/designed the same way. An outsourced person also doesn't have the same working relationship with other people and lacks knowledge of specific applications and the infrastructure beneath them. It takes time to acquire that. These guys have some semi- domain knowledge too.

IT is just the start, though. Google "globalfoundries jobs Bangalore". There's more non-IT jobs for hire than not.

The ideal situation for management would be to retain enough headcount to qualify for grants. Once grants are out of the picture then all they really need are wrench turners and positions to use as residency enticement (H or L visa) for hard to fill jobs.

IT jobs are everywhere including NY state jobs in Albany and private employers, and all are doing well. IT folks at GF should be the least worried. Its the engineers who are stuck in this area have no other alternative.

asked someone in CIM at Fab8. He said CIM teams aren't impacted yet but the IT dept has made moves indicating it's an eventuality. Apparently IT has set up a team in Singapore+Bangalore for this purpose but are saying it's for something else.

@kcx+1bWFuaO3 most of the people-facing IT support (hotline/helpdesk, workbench) is already outsourced, so you're enjoying the product of it already. Hope you enjoy more of it.
