Lowe's says it will hire 50,000 people. Meanwhile it doesn't give them any hours and cuts the hours of the existing part timers.
Then Lowe's collects money from the federal government for hiring those 50,000 even though they never work..
That's a defraud the government scam if I ever heard one. Hopefully Marvin and Joe get investigated.
There is no federal money, directly or indirectly. Look at the X-mas season for Target. Always on the news with X-X hiring this season and so on. Lowes is not driving the turn over. The retail sector has taken the biggest hit for retention as the pandemic turned the corner. Target is on top of the pile with the best retention, Macy*s & Kohls is flat out crazy short. The folks that left retail for whatever reason have not retuned. Retailers are desperate to hire and in turn hire people believe its an 'easy' job and then reality hit them. No organization wants turn over, its costly, very costly and provides poor service to name a few issues.
The Fed Govt doesn’t pay, at least directly, Lowe’s or any other corporation to hire workers. The larger question: why is Lowe’s corporate driving turnover. They’ve created a burnout machine - and they know it - but just keep fueling it. Turnover has to be somewhere near 5% per week.

Yea, maybe Lowe's will hire 50K but what they are not telling anyone is during the same period approximately the same number will leave the company. I can tell you that at my store we are struggling to fill open positions and often times as soon as we do another employee quits. Most of our new hires don't even make it to their 3 month anniversary. Very demoralizing for everyone involved.
But nobody wants to work for Lowe's. The word is out that they suck moose co-k.
